My First APP is Live!
🧶 Naughty Knitters is live on the App Store! I'm a non-coder who vibe-coded a native iPhone app with Claude, and it's finally out in the world. It's a free map of BC yarn shops, fibre farms and mills, plus a community events calendar and a set of free knitting tools (row counter, needle chart and more). It's available in both Canada and the US. The map is BC-focused, but the tools work anywhere, and it's a good look at what a solo builder can ship without a dev background. If you have an iPhone, I'd love it if you'd try it and leave a rating or review. Reviews are what get a new app noticed, and I'm entering it in a hackathon that ends Sep 30, so this week matters most. 🙏 👉 https://apps.apple.com/app/naughty-knitters/id6802524617 Happy to answer questions about how I built it, the tools I used, and getting through App Review as a first-timer. Feedback and honest criticism welcome! I'm busy returning emails from Knitting shops etc. I have an AI event at the University tonight and am waiting on a review for my second APP, I hope it make it in the hackathon also? Still shaking of dirt from Camping, will talk soon.

I am so close to pulling the trigger on a Mac Studio M5 Ultra next month with the 512GB ram for this very reason... I'm already paying $200+/mo and I'm still hitting my limits even with optimizers.
Subagent Use
I have just had my second week with Grok 4.6 SuperHeavy subscription. I noticed after I had my design/plan done and begun the app coding. When I first had a test bench and I would make a change it would take a lot of back and forth to get a single change to work without issue. In the base command input it would not loop and test the change. I have found that's not the default agent flow even after having set up the agent to be an advanced code engineer. If I told Build to launch the change in a sub-agent, it would loop and test it over and over till there were no errors. I found this to be my new go-to when making changes or additions to my apps. Do any of you other Grok Build users find this? or have you tried it?

@Shane McGrath I don't think it was, Ive had that same behavior since 4.5. It's only in the last month that I realized sub-agents were smoke testing the changes even though I never told them in the instructions. I was getting 90% better results by doing it that way. Only a few times did it ever come back not working or have conflict with another part of the app. I also taught a skill that I use now to debug and it will launch 5 agents to comb through. Most tasks are done in under 5-7min.
I don't think I will work inside Grok Build anymore...
I have been working on my next book and was a little frustrated with working inside grok build. It was a little clunky and difficult to read(old eyes). So I had the bright idea of using grok to build me an app where I can work in and holy smokes, it blew my mind. What this means for me is that any project that I want to work in from now on, I will make a customizable app to interact with grok and just use that. Truly custom workflow and UI is right under the hood and I am just discovering it. Sitting at my desk with my mind blown. Ok, now getting back to work.

One thing I've seen with grok build is when you're working with a design/plan and you are beginning to make changes. Run a subagent for the task. It seems to do much better and has a better loop than just asking for a change outright. It does a lot of troubleshooting before you even get to test. I was trying to port a very old game to macOS arm. I was launching 20 sub-agents at a time and what would have taken weeks/months and $$$$ I managed to get 85% of the game ported in 7 days. It's pretty good at that. I also used /figure-it-out skill from poteto that helped in some cases.

Hi everyone, CSP: passion for development. I have always wanted to create things, and now vibe coding has opened that door. TP: My true passion will still be filmmaking specifically color grading. I love how the colors and lighting can be shaped to create a heart touching feeling. So far I have one released application that I actually just found a bug in, but its not my fault, its the sdk that I'm using has a memory bug, so I just found a workaround for that. It is called Cine Compressor. www.cinecompressor.com ; I have a large suite of applications I'm working on. About 7 in the suite that all have to both work together and stand alone, so that has been challenging to finish. Two are in closed Beta with promising results. They will be put in a live environment next month, fingers crossed there's no hiccups. My applications are not small. Been using Grok Build for all of them. I just prefer Grok over the others. That's me. Hello everyone!

@Shane McGrath When you asked this, I had begun thinking of a whole bunch of things to say. Now DaVinci Resolve Studio has a built in MCP server. I haven't looked but it may be in their free version as well. But I would say use that now, give your agent a reference look from a YouTube setup similar to your lighting that you like and ask it to match that. I just watched your Dario video, did you get a new camera or something. It looks really good. I'd be glad to help if you want to talk more in-depth.
