A 55-year-old female patient presents to the ED with shortness of breath. She reports that she has felt anxious for about 48 hours but feels like she can't catch her breath. Before ordering any diagnostic tests what questions about history and review of systems should you ask?
I would ask her for her medication list and her diagnostic history, cardiac history as well as respiratory. I would take her vitals and auscultate her lungs.
A 71-year-old patient presents with a chief complaint of syncope. EKG is normal sinus rhythm. What questions would you ask? What differential diagnoses need to be considered?
I would ask if she has any ringing in her ears, hearing loss or ear pressure, visual changes. How long the dizziness is lasting. I would also do orthostatic blood pressures and ask her about the medications she is on.
