šŸ¦„ Pressure V's Connection....
✨ Inspired by a post comment this week. If you’ve ever felt confused about pressure vs connection - you’re not alone. Here is how you will hear me explain it: ā–ŖļøVoice, breath, energy, focus, intention → connection work ā–ŖļøSteady pressure, rhythmic pressure, and the skills around them → teaching, explaining, real-life situations, safety and purpose. A lot of people are searching for ways to work with their horse without pressure and the intention behind that is beautiful. But what I’ve learned over the years is that it’s not about removing pressure completely, that is impossible and actually avoids most of the general skills the horse needs for real life. šŸ‘‰ It’s about understanding it so well that over time and with practice it becomes lighter, clearer, and eventually almost invisible. You will hear me talk about Lenny where it is like he is in my skin, reading my thoughts, this cannot be achieved without pressure. Our very presence is pressure. I have yet to find someone who does not live on a 100 acre ranch, in the middle of no where, not having to run into traffic or every day things that achieved this. Or who eventually does not have to resort to some form of pressure anyway not realizing that standing in front of them , laying down with them and even sitting on their back is still form of pressure. They will even sell their programs as pressure free. That’s the work I care about - giving people the real deal, not some made up story to sell lies. We need the truth peeps, coz the truth saves a lot of money and time. To bring out the unicorns the pressure will always exist, but how we use it definitely matters. ā“Does this make sense to you or are you unsure? 🐓✨🫶

A million percent now since becoming part of this journey
🩷 Bravery Isn’t Built in a Day…
...It’s Built in the Days After It is quite common and really great of course (they are trying) to for example attend a clinic or watch a video, do some bravery training, the horse does well (or at least gets through it) and then that’s it. It becomes a one-time thing and I get it, it feels like you’ve done it, ticked the box, faced the scary thing. But bravery doesn’t come from one exposure, it comes from repetition and from understanding. Building it in a way the horse can actually keep as a positive memory and us knowing that sometimes it has to get worse before its gets better especially, if we are allowing the horse to create a real opinion about it. And the other part people often miss is they’ll do a lot of work close range by helping the horse accept something right there, in their space. But they skip the long-range work, like for example an Umbrella is a very different object to them close range v's long range. I know people who’ve done for example just one clinic, the horse said ā€œyesā€ to the umbrella in that setting, then they went out for a ride and the horse got completely spooked when an umbrella was coming towards them. Cue mega disappointment. But that’s not how it works, peeps šŸ˜… Bravery training isn’t about just getting through the moment and hoping it will be ok. It’s about creating a horse that can cope with the next moment and the one after that with you in charge. šŸ‘‰ On their own they would figure it out but now they are trapped by you on a rope or by the reins. There is a whole section dedicated to this inside the Skool - how to build those foundations, involve the horse in the process, not just the end result. And this summer I’ve blocked out weeks to film, rain or no rain šŸ˜… so if you’re in Premium and there’s something specific you want to see besides what's already in there, now’s your chance. Let me know and I’ll include it. Let’s build horses that don’t just learn to deal with it, but actually understand it and are confident when we are around.

Oh this would be fantastic, one of my horses porter is very spooky , especially with cows when out hacking and by the way he lives on a farm , his adrenaline spikes n he snorts n gets ready for take off. My youngest is always so brave but out on a hack during the week he was terrified to pass a roller in a field , not moving just sat in the field so this I will look forward to learning from you .

Yessssss brilliant post
šŸ‘‰ What Shows Up for You?
Quick one - where do you struggle most in your body when working with your horse? Not what you know but what actually shows up when you’re in the moment. Hands, shoulders, feet, eyes…it all matters more than we think, and often it’s the smallest habits that make the biggest difference. So I’m curious šŸ‘‡ Which body part(s) do you find the hardest to get right or get control of? Drop your thoughts in the comments. 🐓✨🫶
