07/30/25 - Live Call
Hey Skoolers! Happy Wednesday! Last week's call covered a lot of details on the topic of Landing a First Contract. I didn't record it because I'd really like to start with live calls and people-interactions. Later, I may add recordings. Is anyone interested in having a call today? Debra sent me a list of topics to consider but she's the only person I've heard from and the only person who was able to join last week. Please let me know. Before Noon, I'll announce if we're having a call or not and if so, what time. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Finding and securing contracts
If you're wondering how to find and secure a contract, you're not alone. Finding contracts can be one of the most challenging aspects of consulting. Finding one or more that are enough to pay all your bills and do consulting full time can be an even greater challenge. There are a variety of sources you can leverage to find contracts including online resources. There are Agencies that specialize in securing clients and matching them to consultants. Many of these offer one-hour consultations. There are also Agencies that have pools of consultants who are available "on the bench" so that when a large client comes along with a large need, the resources are matched up with the client's list of required skills and expertise. Arrangements will vary with companies like these. And of course, you can always land a contract through your own consulting business with no intermediary. The source of the contract often depends on the type of work you'll be doing in your own business so there's really not a cookie-cutter answer to the question about where to find and secure contracts. It may take several contracts to add up to enough income to cover your previous salaried role if there was one you're comparing against. It could be that one contract is more than you've ever made in your entire career. Results will vary. The encouraging part about being your own boss is that you can pursue as large or small a contract as you'd like. You'll need to be sure to market yourself based on what you're looking for and be sure to turn down anything that's too small of a contract (and potentially too big a distraction) that might prevent you from landing a significant contract. For more insights, let's bring this into one of our live calls in the near future. Be sure to respond to this message so I can gauge interest!

I would love to discuss securing contracts in one of our live calls.
Live Call Survey
UPDATE: I've put a placeholder on the Community Calendar and I can move it if there are suggestions for a better time and date. Hey everyone! Happy Thursday! I'd like to have our first Live Call next week. Does anyone have any topics of interest as well as a perferred time and date? Suggestions are welcomed! If there's no preference, I'll propose 4:30PM Eastern time on Wednesday afternoon and the first topic will be randomly chosen live, during the call. Topics can be anything that you might encounter in the end-to-end workflow from establishing your LLC to finding and negotiating contracts or even narrowing down your niche. We'll have plenty of time for live Q&A during the call as well. If you have family or friends who might be interested in learning more about consulting - this is a no-obligation community where it's ok to ask questions and explore. You don't have to commit to taking steps and are welcomed if you just want to learn a bit about what consulting could look like if you decided to get started. The idea is to help take the mystery out of the steps you might need to take, to get started. Once we have an established time and date, I will set the invitation on the Skool calendar. Now let's get started with your preference when we can have our discussion!
