Hello everyone, hope you’re doing well. It’s been a while since I’ve been active here. I’ve been quite busy lately reviewing resumes and giving feedback to job seekers who feel stuck and aren’t getting responses from their applications. In the past few days alone, I’ve reviewed over 100 resumes, and honestly I was surprised by what many people are applying with, about 60 of them don’t even meet the standard of a professional document. Your resume is your first impression, and sometimes the problem isn’t your skills.

Many job seekers keep using the same resume they created years ago. The experience might be strong, but the format and structure are outdated. Today, resumes are not just read by people, they’re also scanned by ATS systems. A modern, clean, and well-structured template makes it easier for recruiters to quickly see your value. Sometimes the problem isn’t your skills or experience. It’s simply that your resume doesn’t present them in a clear, modern way. Upgrading your resume template might seem like a small change, but it can make a big difference in how your application is received. Small improvements in structure, clarity, and presentation can greatly improve your chances of getting noticed. If you haven’t updated your resume in a while, this might be a good time to take another look at it.

One mistake I see many job seekers make is applying to every job they see with the same resume. Most of the time it actually slows down your progress. When you apply to too many different roles, marketing today, customer support tomorrow, project management next, your resume and profile start to look unfocused. Recruiters can’t clearly see what you’re aiming for. A better strategy is to choose 1–2 target roles and tailor your applications around them. When your resume, LinkedIn profile, and applications all point to the same direction, recruiters understand your value much faster. Clarity attracts opportunities.

Most people don’t have a bad resume because they lack experience. They have a bad resume because they don’t know how to present their experience the right way. Your resume should not just list what you did, it should show results, impact, keywords, and clear value.
