Thank you so much for showing us this step in progress of this portrait. When you say inking, do you mean that you used pen and ink? And of course you did a great job. I’m getting the personality right even there even though it’s only line drawings. It’s a real treat to see the steps you’ve taken.

@James Burgett those shadows are what Drew me to this reference. And I was terrified when I started painting in those shadows. Actually, though, the harder part was getting the trees in there in the first place. That was a real pain! The shadows were pretty easy, even though I was terrified the whole time that it was going to just mess up the whole thing! But I don’t think I’ll be nearly as scared to do it next time that I decide that’s what needs to be done. Although, the prospect of either making it work or ruining the picture is pretty daunting, I have to say!
