I have been volunteering heavily with an organization of 30 people that has been switching over from ChatGPT to Gemini. I've used Gemini almost exclusively since April, so I do have some informed opinions about differences. About the cost: Gemini is free, but there is a 5-chat-per-day rate limit, which is what I had run into previously. Our organization upgraded our Google for Nonprofits to their business standard, and we are paying $4.20 per month per user. @Andy Rubinson - I'd be happy to connect and share my more detailed thoughts that I want to write up someday, but never seem to get around to. The short version of my experiences: - The rate limits of free Gemini were too restrictive - Upgrading to Business Standard was a bit of a pin (Google and Microsoft just have tooooooooo many types of licenses!), but in the end worked - That said, we had to upgrade the full Workspace -- i.e., pay for ALL Workspace users, including suspended ones -- we spent a bit of time deleting a bunch of old users, which just required us to do some communicating about which accounts we really needed. Now that we're in Gemini, I'd say that our experience is so-so. The Gemini model, particularly with Gemini 3, is certainly comparable to GPT-5. However, the ChatGPT app is far superior to the Gemini app. I miss Projects. Their ability to create and share custom GPTs is much better. The memory across chats is great and doesn't exist in Gemini. But, honestly, none of those was worth spending a whole bunch more money.
