Earth Science Class 2026-2027
I am offering both live and video versions of the Earth Science Class for this coming school year. Below is the description for the live class. You can find the description for the video class as well as descriptions for all of the other classes here: https://www.skool.com/homeschool-high-school-8443/classroom/6fa9f2f9?md=0d75531de75f4a4a9b6fa06b9a10ac3a This is a live Earth Science course ideal for 8th-10th graders. We will cover every topic that should be covered in a college-prep level Earth Science class. Course Overview - Curriculum: My own rendition of the Layers of Learning Earth & Space Curriculum - **Note: I am not affiliated with Layers of Learning in any way. I have received permission from the authors to use their curriculum for these courses. I do not earn any kind of commission. I just love the curriculum! 😁 - Format: Live classes August 17th-May 28th (M, Tu, Th & F 8:00-8:55pm ET). Live lesson recordings will be available in the video version of this class in case a student misses a class. - Class Structure: - Live teaching of the new lesson with clear explanations, worked examples, and interactive practice. - Students follow along with the lesson and may choose to complete the Guided Notes for the lesson and complete the Lesson Quiz to ensure comprehension. - Homework: Occasionally, students will be asked to do research or design an experiment that they will conduct on their own time. Most days do not have homework. Students will be able to share their research or experiment if they would like but will not be required to do so. - Evaluations: There are two different options for evaluations at the end of each unit. 1) If you would prefer more standard tests, you can choose to do the HSHS Earth Science quizzes for each lessons and tests at the end of each unit OR 2) If you prefer a more creative evaluation, I have included an explanation of a suggested evaluation from Layers of Learning at the end of each unit.

Thanks for the interest! I’m so excited about Earth Science this year. I’m hoping to put out a video with ALL of the information on 7/11, but here is the information that I have written up. Let me know if you have any other specific questions that aren’t answered here. 🙂 Below are several important links. The HSHS Earth Science Information sheet will tell you the Lesson number, the topics we will be covering, which printables we will be using and what supplies you will need if you want to do the activities and labs along with us. The HSHS Earth Science Lab Log is a log of all of the labs in this course. (I am filling it out as we complete them.) The information on it includes the lesson it is found in as well as the date, the name of the lab, and how long it took us to complete it. If students are unable to attend the live session of any lesson, they are welcome to watch the video recording of that lesson in the Earth Science (Video) Course. There are two different options for evaluations. 1) If you would prefer more standard tests, you can choose to do the HSHS Earth Science quizzes for each lessons and tests at the end of each unit OR 2) If you prefer a more creative evaluation, I have included an explanation of a suggested evaluation from Layers of Learning on the HSHS Earth Science Information Sheet at the end of each unit. Parents are responsible for grading the evaluations. However, if you have questions, I am happy to help. You can put up a post in the Community or send me a Chat message. I am also including a link to the Layers of Learning Printable Pack for their Earth & Space curriculum in case you would like to purchase the PDFs we will use in class. If you prefer not to purchase the printables, your student can write down the information on them during class. The Printable Pack for the entire course is only $8.99 and well worth the cost in my opinion. **Note: I am not affiliated with Layers of Learning in any way. I have received permission from the authors to use their curriculum for these courses. I do not earn any kind of commission. I just love the curriculum! 😁

In preparing for getting out the video, I have made some updates to the class description. I am posting them as a new comment. Please let me know if you have any questions!
No Parent Meet-Up Today
We will not be having our Parent Meet-Up today because I will be cheering my team on to victory during the World Cup. 😁 🇧🇷⚽️🇧🇷⚽️ If you’re watching the games, who are you rooting for?

Favorite homeschool high school resource??
Hi everyone! What’s one tool, book, website, app, or supply that has made homeschooling noticeably easier or more enjoyable for your family? This can be anything. A specific pencil sharpener, a great literature guide, a lab supply source, a transcript template, or even a simple planner idea. Share your top pick in the comments! I’m always looking for new ideas to test out.
