A melhor coisa de estar de volta ao Maine é conversar com a equipe brasileira da academia da universidade todas as manhãs. Não é perfeito, mas é algo. Eu meu sinto com sorte que alguns sao Brasileiros.
Stop whining, start wine-ing! 😁🍷
Olá, bom dia! Tudo bem? It's another week and another chance to speak Portuguese NOW, TODAY! I notice a lot of people are joining and saying they want to speak Portuguese (and you may well be) BUT I'm not seeing much evidence of it here! This Monday morning post, and every daily post, is the chance for you to say what you want to say, who you want to say it to, and where you're going to be saying it. New people: Let's hear from you 😘 For example: I've been in touch with community member @Bob Wenger in the last few days and Bob mentioned that he will be joining, as he does every year, one of the wine harvests in his locality - 'The Vindima'. What better way to learn Portuguese, learn more about the culture, and drink some wine, than getting involved in the Vindima? Learning a bit of vocabulary, getting out there, showing up, winging it, adapting, talking - SWAT-ing your way into the vineyard?! The wine harvest module is ready for you here Whether you're grape picking today, or this week, or not, what are you doing when it comes to SPEAKING Portuguese, and what help do you need? I am here to help and encourage, so let's do this together... 🤗 NB This Friday will be the new format for meeting up to reflect on the week - a Portuguese party (bring food, wine & friends!) - so I'd love to see a more activity this week to talk about and celebrate. There ain't nothing to it, but to do it, and you're either doing it, or you're not doing it. It's as simple as that.
Stop whining, start wine-ing! 😁🍷

A partir de janeiro, provavelmente não me vai conseguir calar. Fazendo o máximo que posso enquanto finalizo o trabalho. (Até lá, o Rob vai [esperançosamente] deixar você louco com o português.)

@Carl Munson 😂 sim
What are you reading (in Portuguese)?
To my delight and surprise recently, my youngest son wanted to read a Portuguese book at bedtime. It was Pinocchio as it turned out (em Portugues: 'Pinóquio') and we read it together. The beautiful thing was not only the chance to sit and read with one of my children, but also how much I realised I understood and was able to explain to him. This is the 'collateral' benefit of the other work I've been doing; interesting because I don't read much Portuguese, consciously or purposefully. I tend to learn through other means, primarily through speaking and engagement, SWAT-style! This was a lovely option, or complementary activity, which I thoroughly recommend to you, and I'm interested to know what your reading matter is. What do you read, or what will you start with from our suggestions in the survey today? And please say more in the chat to inspire (and impress) others! PS Please share your personal SWAT 'mission' for TODAY in this pinned thread too (maybe a trip to the bookshop?!) PPS New 'recycling' mission here

Birthday greetings and "feliz aniversário" to community members @Sarah Davie and @Pam Smith today - Tenham um excelente dia, ambos. While we're celebrating queens, let's circle back to Amália Rodrigues, who began our Portuguese A to Z cultural info' & comprehension posts. She's also in the Portugal A to Z of course. This week has a reading out loud and recording theme, so if you're hesitating to read out loud and even record yourself, maybe take this as a prompt to start (remember to hear yourself reading with as little judgment as possible). Read it, record it, play it back, and it might seep into your subconscious ... possibly. I'm no psychologist but I suspect reading and recording to yourself is more effective than doing nothing at all! Give it a go, let me know what you think, and maybe begin today by reading the Amália Rodrigues script 👇Just a few paragraphs to get you started, and a nice printable poster of the 'Queen of Fado'. Amália Rodrigues script 👇 - A-Z - Quiz - More Muito bom dia!
Parabéns e practice, practice, practice (read, record & embed)
