@James Bruski basically the natural order started to fall apart. Weather started acting up since there was no one keeping balance, so snow could be followed nu intense heat and then massive rains. Harvests failed, animals seemed to go crazy, eventually deforming into dangerous beasts. One city that was dedicated to he moon goddess actually even wasjes away into the sea and is most forever.

@James Bruski yes, basically the gods did not only represent natural order, their presence held it together.

Hi everyone! I'm David. More of an aspiring writer than an actual accomplished one. I started out writing one shots as a dungeons and dragons and call of cthulhu GM, that evolved into writing a full blown campaign (dnd) in my own world with it's own lore. Basically that has led me towards wanting to write a book about that setting. It's a high fantasy, magic heavy world with diffrent creaties and factions, cultures and agendas. Quick summary: the gods are for some reason gone from the world. They are no longer able to touch it or influence it in any way. Society changed and fell into chaos as a group of powerful Pages took power and split the world. There aren't many areas left not under their control. The story follows a young orphan who has this simple tasks to fulfill, but actually holds the key to the return of the gods, if he wants to. I have a few big inspirations. The obvious ones are Tolkien, Gygax, Robert Jordan. Also German writers Markus Heitz and Bernhard Hennen are childhood inspirations.
