Copilot is a function in Excel !
Anyone else using excel and wasn't impressed with the initial application of copilot? Well today I found out it's now a formula function. Impressed right now but we'll see when I apply it at work tomorrow...

HI Roseanne. I ran across shortcut ai which works with both Excel and Google sheets. Maybe worth a look. tryshortcut.ai I'll have to try CoPilot in PowerBI as Noelle mentioned....they've had natural language running in there for a while....which may be what CoPilot is leveraging.
Beyond Copilot for Excel and Google Sheets
Ran across Shortcut AI today and thought it is a great example of AI Applied. How powerful is this approach...as it also shows traceability and sourcing...my takeaway Trust but Verify? Great analogies as well in terms of maturity described against the evolution of a self-driving car. My other takeaway is many researchers and developers of AI need domain experts to create the value driven applied use cases. Summary Shortcut is an AI app that integrates with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, designed to automate and simplify tasks for both experts and beginners. The app, which can handle complex tasks like updating financial models and creating profitability analyses, is intended to act as a "superhuman agent" to boost user productivity. Monetizing AI - Coinbase x402 Intro
How do you monetize the massive flows and interactions at the speed of AI? The x402 protocol from Coinbase is an interesting take on what I would call "early steps" to make sure monetization - and to some extent "management" - is considered. I believe this will be as important as authorization/security...especially in a networked AI Agentic world. Certainly worth a read of the whitepaper....https://www.coinbase.com/developer-platform/discover/launches/x402 https://www.x402.org/x402-whitepaper.pdf How have others looked to monetize their AI offerings? Are you considering x402? Management of funds/budgets will be interesting to consider for CFO/CIO/Controller roles in an organization. Remember forgetting to turn off an instance in the cloud.....what if the AI Agentic Agent doesn't have a cap on its budget, and the testing engine or production runs without control. USDC for instance may be a required "Transaction currency" for all IT departments going forward.

Here is the link in Github to the standard and other topics such as principles. https://github.com/coinbase/x402?tab=readme-ov-file#principals How would something like this affect your business/monetization strategies? How do you believe CISO's and Finance would react?

Upon reviewing the standard and current outlined schemes of x402 (e.g. charging a fixed fee for running a process (e.g. delivering a document, or a fee to run an agentic AI service and return some type of output decision)...one thing is glaring...the current standard implementation ignores the topic of Taxes (calculating, assess, and remitting). Providing services (SaaS, running an agentic agent, etc) may be all subject to taxes (Digital VAT on SaaS platforms). For Tax calculations you need to Know the location of your customer (also missing from the spec) or "NEXUS", and often the location of the processing. The US alone has 12,000 unique tax jurisdictions for common good and services (this is why companies like AVALARA have a business). In the rest of the world, Digital VAT (Value Added Tax) or similar taxes like GST (Goods and Services Tax) are consumption taxes that apply to the sale of digital services, including Software as a Service (SaaS), in over 110 countries worldwide. These taxes are generally levied in the country where the customer resides, not where the business is located. They must be calculated, collected and remitted...and often broken out for all parties. How have your accounting experts suggested you calculate taxes on your Agentic AI agents or MCP connected Services? X402 as is....looks to be a very simple method (in its current implementation) to facilitate payments (using Crypto) without addressing tax obligation requirements, KYC or knowing your customer's Nexus (And your processing - where does an agentic agent really reside?). Taxes....have been around for thousands of years in various forms. I would envision the standard having to be expanded to include tax calculation in a legal/regulatory compliant deployment. The Dark Web participants would certainly find it relevant...as they are not typically calculating/remitting taxes - at this stage. Something to watch for sure.... I do see the use case for internal enterprise Cost Based IT tracking to be very relevant with the protocol at this stage....which might be helpful for CIO/Finance.
AI is Not Taking these jobs/careers
I read an article today about how traditional craft careers are spiking. The job market is shifting because of AI and automation of entry level jobs. Whole Foods has been quietly training over 1,300 employees in traditional crafts like butchering, cheese-making, and fish mongering. Not exactly what you'd expect from a modern grocery chain, right? But here's the thing that caught my attention: they're doing this specifically because AI is changing what kinds of jobs are safe. Microsoft released it's report today Working with AI: Measuring the Occupational Implications of Generative AI. The report purpose was to measure how AI usage indicates potential occupational impact. Whole foods needs trade and artisan trained employees, not every job can be done with AI and automation. Think about it: an AI can write a marketing email or analyze a spreadsheet, but it can't tell if meat is fresh or judge whether bread dough has the right texture. These are fundamentally human skills that require our senses and experience. Whole foods isn't alone, Lowe's Foundation committed $50M over the next 5 years to train 50,000 tradespeople. Every morning, there's an article touting AI means these jobs or AI will take this job. What I find positive and is like the steam engine changed the industrial revolution; AI is reminding the job market that skilled trades, artisan work or roles that require genuine human connection will continue and thrive! What do you think? Would you consider the idea of learning a traditional craft? https://fortune.com/2025/07/17/whole-foods-artisan-apprenticeships-butcher-as-ai-wipes-corporate-jobs-gen-z/

Personally....I've invested some time learning about electricity lately (anyone wire up a backup solar/battery combination to power their casa?). Another curious take on your topic was from an interview on Diary of a CEO of Geoffrey Hinton (well known AI founder) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=giT0ytynSqg&pp=0gcJCfwAo7VqN5tD . He recommended plumbing for instance....or rather the importance of adapting and acquiring skills that are complementary to the capabilities of artificial intelligence. Trades such as mechanical(HVAC), and electrical can do very well in our Southeastern US region.
Note Capture Experience - Ethical Approach? (Fathom)
So I just learned about Fathom (www.fathom.video) the highly rated AI notetaker today after speaking with a former sales colleague of mine. I’m curious how many in the community use this or other similar tools for this capability of documenting and transcribing notes? Do you use Fathom? What is your experience with it? He mentioned now frequently seeing on his Teams, Zoom, Google Meet meetings a new participant such as “Dave’s <insert host’s name here> Assistant” as an AI Agent to transcribe and capture the notes. (Maybe it should be <insert your name>’s AI Assistant)? I thought there were some sound ethical based actions he mentioned using in his process: 1) Emails participants in advance of the meeting seeking their permission to be recorded by the AI agent. 2) As a value add - the recipient can also indicate if they want access to the information captured at the same time … thus improving the efficiency of all participants in the meeting. Maybe the first introduction to AI by some. Fathom uses the Freemium Model…which I personally like after spending a stint in the Open Source world with Odoo. I saw that #Lisa Griffith – community member mentioned this about 1 year ago. I’m running fast to catch-up it seems. What tools are similar to this that the community are finding helpful? What are other techniques you’ve used to ethical merge in the use of AI in front of your meetings? Where does it go from here?

What other tools is the community using to capture the information like Fathom? Comments/Thoughts?
