Ipe Bookshelves
A friend of a friend asked me to reimagine a previously installed built-in into something modern but still personal. He had originally asked a carpenter to make some shelves, but they sagged under the weight of the books. Since his wife is from Brazil, I chose 5/4 Ipe board to give the project a subtle familial connection. I built seven floating shelves, keeping the design clean without compromising strength. To make sure they wouldn’t bow over time, I added 1/8" brass stock along the back edge at full shelf height. He wanted a touch of class without anything gaudy, so the brass serves as a quiet detail and adds flex resistance. For the finish, I used a beeswax mix that brought out the depth of the Ipe grain and left a smooth, understated sheen—while avoiding any oil or finish bleeding onto book pages. I’m happy with how it turned out. What do you think?

Beautiful wood and a superber finish. With an expected 75+ years outdoor lifetime for this wood, the entire house will fall down and these shelve will survive.
Project suggestions?
Hi, I am a beginner wood worker that want to make some projects, I don't have space for a table saw, jointer, band saw, router table or track saw in my workshop/shed.Any suggestion on what project I can make?

@Bob Yau You have much more horizontal space that I do. I take a fold up bench outside to work on. If nothing else, I can build some saw horses and use either 2x4s or a plywood sheet to work on.

@Bob Yau It sound like it is not made well enough. To save money, look at the well rated ones on Ebay, Facebook Marketplace, yard sales, estate sales, etc. Note: If you want to to level up, start giving a like to the people that answer your questions. You are discouraging people from looking at your post by not giving a like when they are giving you good answers.

Finally built an all in one workbench
I finally built an all in one workbench to keep all my woodworking tools on. I still have a few things left to do on it. Need to add some trim on the top and add some t-track on the top. Sorry for the mess. Its still being organized while building a few projects.

Looks like you nailed it on integrating that tablesaw!
Hello, my name is Levi Whitney!
Hi everyone, my name is Levi. I started my woodworking journey around two years ago from making some wooden knifes, after some time I started to try to make some wooden yo-yos which got me to buy a lathe(my first power tool that I bought) that was last year in March. I am a Christian Home schooled teenager, if you would like to support me here's my YouTube channel and a link for my handmade wooden yo-yos. https://www.youtube.com/@levishandmadetoys https://shop.wwstudios.org/products/handmade-wooden-yoyo

I like your video on the marble lock box. Have you thought about making longer videos to show how you made it?

My first youtube video
Hello everyone, this is Rani from Beirut, Lebanon. I’ve been woodworking since November, mostly learning through practice and YouTube videos. It’s been an amazing journey so far, and I’m genuinely enjoying every part of it. I wanted to share my video here because this channel is one of the places I’ve learned from the most on YouTube. I’d also really appreciate your feedback on my work, especially the technical side and any mistakes you noticed. For example, a friend pointed out that I should build a jig for my table saw crosscuts, and another noticed that I was using the router in the wrong direction. I’m trying to learn properly and improve with every project, so any advice, corrections, or observations would mean a lot. Thank you in advance! https://youtu.be/tDf8cbXGIkQ?si=OPUobqxmlw0bFKIJ

Been in IT all of my working life and between Covid19 and caring for my mother before she passed, I got burned out. Looking to selling my woodworking.
