Roaming in Florence
With this series I wanted to convey the feeling of finding something small inside of big lousy things. It’s my experience when walking in Florence, needing to hyperfixate to escape all the tourist. Trying to resist as a citizen in a city brutalized by cheap commodification. Does this feeling arrive at you?

Great impressions! The first one is my favorite. The arrangement of branches πŸͺΎ , the sky above - makes me think of prayers reaching for the heavens above...
Assignment #4: Tribute to Toscani
I really like the idea of creating a new self portrait, but one week is too tight for me to really pull off a nice idea (especially with a sneezing and coughing kid at home) πŸ˜’ I wanted to use this weeks topic to share a self portrait which I haven't shown in public yet. It was part of an assignment during my time at photography school to "recreate a famous portrait to be as close as possible to the original (style, lightning, props, ....)". Also, we should then create our own version. The assignment was not about self portraits, but it seemed a great opportunity to get a decent picture of myself (see the third image, where I recognise myslef the most) 😁 Here is the original as reference: https://artemest-cdn.myshopify.com/cdn/shop/files/r0mlrrfvsj3idzz4a7xn80axvpak.jpg?width=1920 (my SX-70 has a build in Sonar-Autofocus, so I did not put a flash on it, too). It was a fun excercise! Maybe also a topic for another assignment!

Assignment #3: On the move
I have a new favorite camera :) Can anybody recognise it from this image? No editing done from my side. I want everybody to post their guess in the comments before checking the EXIF data! Will share more images soon, but here is one for this weeks assignment: I had little time to dedicate for photography this week so I used my time moving through the city to play around with the camera and I'm quite happy with the results given the effort.

You're right, it's my smartphone! I recently watched a YouTube video about how using a retro camera app sparked new joy for using the otherwise "perfectly" boring over engineered smartphone camera. Here are some more images that just have so much character than what the standard camera app would have produced. No editing other than the pre build camera simulations. Phone: Google Pixel 8 App "old Roll" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.accordion.analogcam After 1 day of testing I bought the lifetime license. "The best camera is the best you have with you" - and now it's actually fun using it βœ¨πŸ˜‰

@Endri Dano that's right! I feel a bit silly because I completely forgot you mentioned the app. 🫠I only remembered that you used your phone. And the image came out just as fine as it might have with a "proper" camera in my opinion. I especially like that i don't "need" to spend time to edit the image.
Assignment #3: Colliery in the evening
f/4 SS: 2 seconds ISO: 100 My first time trying handheld long exposure, I think it turned out good.

I like the dynamics of the tilted frame together with the curved lights. Also nice how the bright and dark areas alternate with the streaks of light on the wall.

Made me think of a ferris wheel :D 🎑
Assignment #3: Walking among us
"No need to look further afield, they were here with us all along" Inspired by Lorenzo's awesome "Futuristic Movement", here is my take on long exposure in a more grungy look and feel at the same favourite fountain subject used on my first assignment. Heavily styled to be filmic. The use of grainy, contrasty but slightly defocused is intended to age the image to suit 1950 sci-fi stories. ISO:100, SS:1/3, f/26.0, 28.0mm

Love it! The way only one foot remains frozen remembers me of zombies limbing in slow motion... I like the not-uniformity of the grain (I see it too, @Lorenzo Zanna ), it fits the sci-fi setting - somewhat ghostly. Composition is captivating, but I agree with cutting off some of the sky.
