@Loreen Pawlak thank you. I recently purchased a small box that I can use (hopefully) with both oil and pastels . Just needed a good tripod.
Plein Air Painting - Painting Trees in my Local Area
Hey Artists Yesterday's plein air painting. It's so nice to just go out into my local area and paint these beautiful countryside scenes, especially trees. One of the things I'm trying to do now is go outdoors painting more regularly. I'm trying to see if I can get out once a week and just capture my local area on canvas, especially these countryside scenes, farmland, rolling green hills. I want to go out painting at least once a week to improve my plein air painting skills. The other cool thing is seeing the changing seasons here as it is now autumn in far north New Zealand where I live. I painted this artwork on an 8” by 10” linen panel in oils. Is anyone here in the group going outdoors to paint en plein air? Happy painting Sam P.S. If you'd like to learn how to paint trees like this so that you can just paint them outdoors or just improve your tree painting skills, then right now we have a tree painting course at my art school which has just started. You can catch up. Click the link to join. https://www.skool.com/samuel-earp-online-art-school/about

Your tree painting class part 1 recently helped me a lot. Both with trees and grasses. Love your painting here .
Plein air on Fripp Island
What can I do to make this more interesting and colorful? I want to trash this because it’s just not going anywhere . But at the same time, I’d like to figure out how to fix it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.. I feel like I’m at a point in my oil painting that I’m not improving and I’m getting discouraged. However, I am not a quitter.

@Johan Krijgsman I think those are great suggestions. I will definitely try them. Definition of insanity….. I kept piling on my green…. getting the same blah result.
