Steve’s question:
Hi I have tendency to start my swing with a strong movement of my right shoulder towards the ball and this makes my swing come over the top. When I take real full turns and may back is too the target I feel like I am a KM away from the ball and want to push my shoulder in. This happens more the longer the club gets. Also the faster I swing the worst it gets. This creates challenges in trying to add length to my drives. I have heard that a need to pause and drop my shoulder but this seems unnatural to me.

This is a great reply, for 34 years I really fought with that movement that the original poster was asking about. It’s really hard to get rid of a slice. I had so many people try and tell me to keep my back to the target, but I couldn’t figure out that in doing so you had to speed up your hands and drop them. I really had to learn myself to try and shift my weight to the lead side and as I am doing that, drop my hands and then turn through the shot. I was really bad at firing my upper body at the ball for many years, and I hit wild bananas. Lol. Still working at it

@Steve Becker Repetitions are the motherhood of skill. Good luck
Practice routines. Questions?
I see that there are some people posting in here general questions. I’m going to try and ask a general question, but I can be a little bit long in nature. I work at a golf course and after work every day I play or I will practice. I’m lucky to work at a golf course that has a driving range and we have a practice, bunker and chipping green and we also have a pretty good putting green. This being said, this last year me myself I would hit 30 balls every day, I used one of those swing ropes that really helped me get tempo. I will try and slow down with my bucket of 30 shots and concentrate on those 30 shots and see what shot I would have that day for the golf course. Afterwards, I practised some basic chips for probably 10 minutes and then I would go putt more so for at least 15 to try and work on tempo and lag. Not really concentrating too much on making six footer, but trying to get it close to the hole more often. As I get excited for a new season of Golf both setting up the course and then playing on it, I often wonder what some of the other people in this group have for a practice routine. I have really found out a range for me. It’s a definite game changer in terms of rhythm and first T nerves Just looking to see where I can improve Thanks Dan!

@Chris Lancaster That makes complete sense.. some of what I am doing is on point. Learning how to slow myself down at hitting balls was really hard to do. It took me over a year to break myself from that habit alone. Thanks for the insights. I really appreciate them

@Cam Lancaster Thank you for inviting me Cam. Looking forward to reading, studying and retaining some of the secrets from this group. As you know I am no stranger to practice and have seen my game go up and down and last year, I got to my all-time lowest handicap ever 7.1, it ended up finishing out the year at 8.4 but I have aspirations this year to try and get lower. Thanks again for your invite.
