For those interested, I filed a lawsuit against the drivers’ insurance company for third-party damages (me). Fast forward to the end of the lawsuit, the judge determined that I am at 70% fault, while the other driver is 30%. I had predicted this outcome. In any case, the insurance company has paid 30% of the value of my bike and gears. Now, the amusing part begins. The insurance company calls me and informs me that I owe them approximately $1,500, because I am at 70% fault and must pay their expenses. However, there’s a twist. At the hearing, both the driver’s father (the insurance is under his name) and the insurance representative claimed that they did not receive an appraisal for the car’s damages and sold it a while ago, not long after the accident. They also stated that the damages are almost exclusively to the license plate, which is supported by the video and an image of the car after the accident. In short, it feels like they are trying to deceive me. And more importantly, please ride safely!
