@Jordan Stubblefield Was your overall stance "pick me, pick me" or "I am The Chooser"? As Choosers we ask a lot of questions to see if they're a good fit for the offer. And the offer isn't made until we've uncovered and clearly understand the symptoms of their present pain we can point to... and what that pain is costing them in time, identity, money, energy, and reputation. When I owned a gym, I asked questions like: "How long have you been dealing with this problem?" "What have you tried so far?" "Why is this important to you?" "Why is this important to you NOW?" I'd just keep digging and listening carefully until they'd really laid out all the symptoms of their present pain and current plan... That way, I could repeat their words back to them... and we could both see the gap between where they were and where they wanted to go... and what it was costing them to wait. To respond to him, consider: which of time, identity, money, energy, and reputation haven't been addressed? Do you know when he has to reach his goal weight? Is lack of discipline his real problem?
