THURSDAY THOUGHTS This ONE Decision Made Me A Pro Goalkeeper
(While My Rival Crumbled) Every thursday, i will give you what I did to become a professional goalkeeper - and how you can simply just copy me!!! The #1 question I get from keepers and parents is: “Should I play for a top team or a struggling team?” When I was a kid, my dad made a radical decision that changed my life forever. He told me: “Play for the worst team possible on Saturdays. I don’t care if you lose 10-0. That is your training ground to handle pressure. Then, play for the best team possible on Sundays to build a winning mindset.” Most people do the exact opposite. They chase status. From age 6 until I left school, I couldn't even make my own school team. The other goalkeeper was 2 feet bigger than me and played for a top professional academy. Our school team was the best in the North West and won absolutely everything. He never faced shots. He never experienced real pressure. Meanwhile, I was playing for struggling teams, getting absolutely battered, and learning how to handle extreme pressure and heavy defeats. I didn't join a pro academy. I stayed in grassroots. But look what happened at 18: I signed a professional contract for Everton FC straight out of sixth form. The other goalkeeper? He sadly didn't make it. The second he hit 18 and the adult game brought massive pressure and fierce competition, he crumbled. He had never built the mental armour. My advice? Stop hiding in easy teams where you face zero shots. Go find the pressure. It’s the only thing that builds a pro. 👉 Want to build the exact bulletproof mindset Everton saw in me? goto mastery.j4ksports.com get your 7 day free trial for the total goalkeeping mindset app, then use the discount code J4KMASTERY for lifetime access for free! Ryan finds it difficult to stay focused when his team win all the time subsequently it makes him a lazy keeper and he struggles then when their opponents are within shooting distance we soon get him back on track with some little "exercises" to help him focus again, I whole heartedly agree with what @Ray Newland is saying and I cant wait to get more advice from him to carry Ryan forward in his "career"
Wacky Wednesday!
Guys, I am going to try something different! 😂🧤 Every Wednesday, I want to encourage you to share a funny photo, video or story about something that has happened to you recently. It can be goalkeeper related or just something completely random! I genuinely believe one of the biggest superpowers any goalkeeper can develop is the ability to laugh at themselves. Because when you can laugh at yourself, those nasty comments from other players, parents or people on the sidelines become water off a duck’s back. Learning to laugh at yourself gives you armour. The next time someone tries to get under your skin, just give them a cheeky smile. Once they realise they cannot get to you, they normally stop trying! So, let us hear your wacky stories below 👇 Let us have some fun, laugh together and never take ourselves too seriously! 😂

Tools of the trade
Given were all here on the J4K group, i felt it prudent to ask what everyone's preference on glove fit/style is. Try and be specific and provide why you choose that fit/style. I like a really tight fitting role finger, so i order at least a size down, im not too keen on a full fabric back as this goes saggy over time. I always choose a strapped glove and don't like finger save spine as it makes my hands feel lazy. Lately ive been very impressed with the shock shield roll finger as its a combo of everything i like

Ryan likes hybrid or negative cut with finger save (finger save doesnt really matter as long as the cut is always the same due to sensory issues)
