New Month, New Quarter!
Happy Friday, everyone! How did your first quarter of 2026 go? What are your plans for Q2? Share your successes and wins! And if you need help, share that as well. I'll be doing a co-working session this afternoon for anyone who wants to join me! I figured out a really cool automation that's going to help me maybe get more organized, so I'll be playing with that. And maybe cussing out my computer. :)

New Month, New Quarter!
Direct sales platform
Hi everyone, I’m thinking of starting direct sales but am chasing info on platforms. Shopify is too expensive with all the plug ins etc, so I’m thinking of something like lemon squeezy as I want my tax dealt with by someone else. Any thoughts on this platform or suggestions for ones that are better in this regard? Basically I want easy to use, one that can keep email addresses, nudge if books left in cart, and deal with the sales tax side of things. Cheers.

I've heard a lot of people have good experiences with lemon squeezy, but I don't have specific experience.
What? Friday Again? We have to stop meeting like this!
Happy Friday Everyone! How did your week go? Mine was a blur! I finished a book over the weekend that I really thought I'd be editing by now, but my week had other plans. I've had a lot of training classes this week, and I've been exhausted. I was hoping to get some editing done during coworking, but I had an ADHD meltdown this week over a bookshelf for my office, and guess what just arrived? So, I'll be in a class all morning and during coworking time, guess who will be putting a shelf together and reorganizing her office? So, if you want to watch me trying to wrangle a new shelf, organize my office, then you're in for a treat for today's co-working session! However, I will soon have no more excuses not to work on my books. What are your not writing excuses?

I'm working on my own writer dashboard focused mostly on writing but a little bit marketing. What do you think? Would you want something like this that runs on your local PC? What would it be worth? What I'll add next? Mal's bulk image generation plugin for marketing FB Headlines and Primary Text Generator Ability to upload series level codexes And a few new tricks!

Cover for Conspiracy novel still not resonating with audience
Hey one and all. I recently launched my new book "Conspiracy". A picaresque, historical thriller set in Paris/Geneva 1791. Whilst I really like the cover I had gone with, I am finding it's not quite resonating with my audience. There seems to be miss-match. I think the Jason Bourne (18thC style) is leaning still to much towards a modern day thriller. Nothing ventured, nothing gained - as they say. So, I really could do with some external opinions here as I am playing with some new ideas. They are mixed. But to give you the tone of the book, here is the blurb: To cheat poverty, he joined a conspiracy. To survive it, well… Paris, 1791. The Revolution is in full swing, and powdered wigs shall roll as easily as dice. Enter Jonas: a Swiss peasant with empty pockets and a burning ambition to improve his lot in life. He’s just triumphed at the gaming table and clutches half an invitation into a powerful cabal of kingmakers who promise a new world order where merit trumps birthright. Alas, there is a catch: a slow-acting poison ensures loyalty, and only his masters hold the cure. Now the syndicate’s favoured courier, Jonas plunges into the smoky, blood-soaked corners of a city upended, where he soon discovers the society’s aim is not noble liberation after all — ‘tis a plot to overthrow his homeland, and he is the pawn delivering the weapons! And so, with venom coursing through his veins, he recruits a ragtag crew of outcasts: a crime lord, a clockmaker, a pickpocket, and sundry other mischief-makers. Together, they must pull off an impossible heist, save the captives, secure the antidotes, and burn the conspiracy to the ground — or be consumed by it. ‘Tis picaresque. ‘Tis poisoned. ‘Tis Conspiracy. Which, from the new ideas would you say best fits the blurb. I appreciate this may not be your genre, but any opinions will be helpful. Current cover is attached (slanted Ipad).

I know you're trying to be clever with the text, and for that, you get an A+. But for someone who is just scanning and looking for a good book, it's really hard to read. I'd go with simpler fonts that are readable at first glance. I had to really squint to read it with my old lady eyes.
