What’s a completely normal thing that irrationally annoys you?
Alright, important question… What’s a completely normal thing that irrationally annoys you? I’ll start: People who stand up on the bus 12 minutes before their stop like we’re preparing for aircraft evacuation procedures. You’re not escaping a sinking submarine, Derek. Sit down. Your turn 👇

What cancer taught me
One thing cancer taught me is how quickly life can change. Not in a dramatic movie speech kind of way. I mean properly change. The kind where one chapter ends before you were ready for it to. You suddenly realise how many things you assumed would always be there: Your routine. Your confidence. Your voice. Your energy. Even the version of yourself you thought you’d always be. And rebuilding afterwards is strange. Because people celebrate survival… but nobody really teaches you how to become yourself again afterwards. I still think a lot of people are quietly rebuilding themselves from something. Illness. Burnout. Divorce. Grief. Anxiety. Parenthood. Failure. Just life in general. So here’s today’s question: 👉 What’s something you’ve had to rebuild in yourself over the years?

Adults don’t know what they’re doing, but as a kid you think they do
I think one of the strangest parts of adult life is realising nobody actually knows what they’re doing. As a kid, you assume adults have everything figured out. Then you grow up and realise everyone’s basically improvising with varying levels of confidence. Some people just hide it better. One minute you’re discussing mortgages, work stress and life goals… The next you’re Googling: “How long can chicken stay in the fridge before it becomes a biological weapon?” It’s chaos. But weirdly comforting chaos. So go on then… 👉 What’s the most “adult” thing you still feel completely underqualified for?

Welcome to The Half Tongue Community.
Honestly… I don’t fully know what this becomes yet. And I think that’s okay. What I do know is this: Over the last few years, I’ve realised how many people are quietly carrying things they don’t really talk about. Illness. Loss. Confidence issues. Stress. Identity changes. Feeling disconnected. Trying to rebuild yourself while still pretending you’re fine. This community isn’t about pretending to have life figured out. It’s not a coaching group. It’s not hustle culture. And it’s definitely not fake positivity. It’s just a space for real conversations with real people. Some days that might mean deep talks about survival and recovery. Other days it might mean bus driver stories, cooking posts, terrible jokes, modern life frustrations, or celebrating small wins. If you’re here early, genuinely thank you. You’re helping build something from the ground up — and I’d love this to become a place where people feel comfortable being themselves. So to start us off: 👉 What’s something life changed about you that people don’t fully understand?
