Opportunity I don't want to mess up
Hi, I'm enjoying my maternity cover position at the local secondary. My HoD keeps telling me about a job that's opening up and now it has. However, I'm nervous! It's an external ad. When I applied for a job I was already doing at another school, I was told no thank you as the other candidate was a stronger interviewee. In that job, I thought I was doing well and my contract kept being extended. So I'm worried the same can happen again. I recently had an observation as part of a department review and was advised of a few things I wasn't doing so well on. This is to be expected but I'm worried it might scupper my chances. However, I'm present in the staff room, get on with everyone, am seeing students in my classes make good progress on the whole and feel like I'm doing a good job. What can I do to make my application and interview great? What might they ask?

If your HoD is giving you a heads up then that is a good sign and a hint. You have nothing to lose with applying for the position, certainly go with what positive outcomes you have achieved in and outside the class. How you have supported the children etc.

HAPPY HALF TERM!!
We made it! It is FINALLY Half Term! I am heading off to a Spa hotel with a good friend for some much needed rest and relaxation, hopefully a few glasses of wine and a good catch up! What are YOU doing this half term to rediscover the chilled version of you?!
