She made one small tweak - and everything started to lock in 🎯
Last night I had a quick private session with Maria (TSG member). She was so close - the right notes were there, but something felt just a little off. Nothing major. There was just a bit out of sync between the notes. But in under 2 minutes, it started to come together. You can hear the shift in real time below. If your picking sometimes feels disconnected… Or you’re not sure why something sounds off even though it looks right… Try this: ✅ Slow it way down ✅ Focus just on your fretboard hand ✅ Loop a small section until it feels smooth ✅ Only then — bring in speed That’s what Maria did - and it started to come together. Dave 🎶 p.s. We went deeper in the full 10-min lesson.Want to check it out? Comment “PICK” below and I’ll send it over.

@David Flood Welcome in man! There's a 5-day course here inside the classroom if you wanna check it out.
Still feel stuck learning songs? Here’s why 👇
Most players try to learn songs like this: ➡️ Find a cool tune ➡️ Watch 4 random YouTube vids ➡️ Try to glue it all together ➡️ Give up halfway through Sound familiar? Here’s the truth: A song is just a LEGO set 😎 Big and overwhelming if you don’t have the manual. Simple and satisfying if you break it down into the right steps. Here’s the formula I use with my private students: ➡️ Song = Sections (Intro, Verse, Chorus, etc.) ➡️ Each section = Chords + Pattern ➡️ Practice 1 section at a time ➡️ Stack them together - done. I made a simple LEGO-style Guitar Blueprint that shows you exactly how to break songs down and finally finish them. Want it? Comment “BLUEPRINT” below and I’ll send it your way 🎸 Once you see how the pieces fit, the whole thing gets way more fun! - Dave 🎶

@Rory Monaghan good man Rory, you're getting on the ball early, that song is tricky enough to play!! Yeah 100%, if you can start to build that knack of spotting whats the same or similar in a song, it makes everything easier! DM'd you with the blueprint there :)

Hand Touching String 1 & A
Really struggling to keep my palm from touching the first string ruining the chord. A is also pretty tricky with some wide fingers.

@Daven Bisson take the A chord shape, put it on, pick the first string on repeat and change angle of your hand until it comes out clearly. Once you find that, look at how your hand and fingers are positioned to make this happen. Really take a mental snapshot of it in your mind, noting every small detail. Then take the shape off, put it on again from scratch, aiming to make that exact same shape again, pick the first string and see if it rings out now. Making this as a practice item will help. Taking a couple of minutes on this to engrain into your hand the habit of making an A this way, will then help strumming it and changing chords. Next step (since you're on the 5-day challenge) is: E chord to A chord change, aiming to get that hand position you just worked on above. Keep it going!🎶
Still find the basic chords hard? Read this 👇
If you’re like most players I work with, you’ve learned a couple of chords… But switching between them still stops your strum. Your fingers don’t always move as fast as you want. And when you do play, it's good some days, and maybe not the next. This Friday, I’m running a LIVE zoom group class on Open Chords — and I’m going to help you: ✅ Clean up your chord shapes (no more buzzing and muting) ✅ Switch chords faster without having to think so much ✅ Understand why your fingers are actually getting stuck — and fix it Even if: – You're just starting out – You don't have much time to dedicate to guitar – You haven’t picked up the guitar in weeks, or have been on/off for years This is guitar teaching in real time — not like "easy/simple/fast" YouTube videos that you try to follow along with but leave you to figure it out on your own. Comment “CHORDS” below and I’ll send you the invite. **this class is limited to 10 spaces, 1 of which already went today, so please only book in if you are serious about showing up** Bring your guitar. We’re not just talking — we’re getting down to some playing. See you there – Dave 🎶
