Introducing Fabric Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Hey everyone! The Fabric Foundation Classroom module is blossoming into the ultimate beginner's guide to Fabric - aimed at people new to Fabric, or in the 'exploring' phase - "is Fabric right for me and my business?" - I know a lot of you are in that position currently. We've just published the first two in a series of FAQ articles: - Migrating from on-premise SQL Server and - Which Fabric Capacity(s) do I need? Our goal is to make it as easy and quick as possible for you to find the information you need to learn or make a decision. Therefore, in each of these FAQ articles, we have synthesized all the previous discussions, all the latest news and updates and documentation and laid it on a plate for you to make a decision, or get up-to-speed FAST. We've also added discussion threads if you have any questions about any of the content. These are the first in a series of FAQ articles we will be publishing over the next few weeks - each of them tackling one of the most frequently asked questions! Big thanks to Maleek - @Mubaraq Abdulmaleek for helping to bring these together!!

That Fabric capacity post is a bit of a godsend, I know Microsoft licensing is often a dark art but anything to help explain it will make our lives so much easier
Power BI Control Version
For version control in Power BI, what options are there and what is most recommended? Thanks in advance.

I thought I'd throw a low-tech one into the mix - SharePoint. When we've been forbidden to use git (for whatever reason, often security policies by IT departments) we've compromised by using SharePoint. While you can't easily track code changes (this is why the Git/DevOps options with PBIP files are miles ahead) you can keep track of versions and keep a changelog. It's primitive but a good backup. Also worth mentioning Deployment Pipelines - you can compare code between dev/test and between test/prod and control what changes get deployed and when they get deployed. It also gives your coworkers awareness of exactly what has changed in your models/dataflows when promoting changes, and lets you add commentary to the change log. Not quite version control but it prevents changes in Dev reaching Test if you realise they don't do what you want.

@Adolfo Illera Jimรฉnez You can add the report from SharePoint rather than publishing from Desktop (see attached screenshot) and the report/model will then be in sync with SharePoint (you can control this in the semantic model's settings, turn it on/off etc) and it will then automatically update the model/report within an hour once it's updated on SharePoint. There's a packaged version, for free, that Power BI Tips put together which looks interesting. I've never used it but see what you think - Power BI Version Control Download -

Hello all! I'm Alex here in London UK (well, the London Surrey border), I've been with the same company my whole working life doing what I love - wrestling with data, pleading with Power BI to do as it's told, and producing insights for various clients (mostly public sector) that hopefully make their work easier and more effective. I started with Microsoft SSIS 2005 and SSRS 2005 and accidentally fell down the Power BI rabbit hole back in 2016 (or 2017?) which is a breeze in comparison to the SSIS ETL work I did (sometimes in parallel) up until about 2019. Now of course Power BI is part of the wider Fabric family and I need to learn the bigger picture, I've got the legacy understanding and want (need!) to shift that to the cloud platform everyone's after. I joined the Dojo but I'm here in the Fabric group to follow along with the latest updates and see what new toys Microsoft give us to play with every so often
