Morning everyone I’ve just hit the mine field of base layers I really need to get Roman some as he is the kid that dives and slides for everything. He has been hit in the chest a few times which has knocked him a bit. The only base layer that looks like it has decent chest protection is storelli but it is a small fortune. I don’t mind paying for it if it’s worth it but at the moment he is only 7 and will grow out of the stuff fast. Any advice on top and bottom base layer sets or even to mix and match brands would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance

Focus on: - Set position before every shot - Early communication (“AWAY”, “KEEPER”, “TIME”) - Reset after mistakes (10-second rule: learn → breathe → move on) Your job isn’t perfection but is the next action. For Parents….. The goalkeeper experience is emotionally unique. Outfield players miss 10 things → nobody remembers Keeper makes 1 mistake → everyone sees it Your child needs a safe car ride home, not analysis. ❌ Instead of “You should’ve held that” “You should have got there quicker” ✅ Try asking - “Did you enjoy playing today?” “What was your favourite save?” “What did you learn?” Confidence grows faster than technique at young ages, and confidence comes from you. For Goalkeeper Coaches…… We don’t just train hands. We train decision-making under stress. A good session includes: 1️⃣ Technical reps (handling, footwork) 2️⃣ Perception (reading cues early) 3️⃣ Chaos (rebounds, screens, pressure) 4️⃣ Emotional recovery (next action mindset) If every drill is perfect the match won’t be. 🧤Train messy 🧤Train realistic 🧤Train brave.
