📚 Tonight’s Assignment: Watch Mexico vs. Czechia | Coaching Call Canceled
Instead of our coaching call tonight, we’re going to use the time to watch the Mexico World Cup match and begin developing one of the most important skills in soccer: Learning how to study the game. The best players don’t just play soccer. They watch, analyze, and learn from it. While watching the match, answer these 5 questions: 1. What does Mexico do immediately after losing possession? - Do they press? - Do they drop back? - Who reacts first? 2. How does Mexico build out from the back? - Which players get involved? - How do they create passing options? - What patterns do you notice? 3. What movements happen BEFORE a player receives the ball? - Check away and back? - Create space? - Scan their surroundings? 4. Where does Mexico win the ball most often? - Defensive third? - Middle third? - Attacking third? - Why do you think that happens? 5. Which player impressed you the most and why? - Be specific. - Don’t just say they scored. - What actions helped the team? Your Assignment: Comment below with your answers after the game. Even if you only answer 2-3 questions, I want everyone participating. The goal is not to be right. The goal is to start training your eyes to see the game differently. See you all in the comments after the match. 🇲🇽⚽️👀

WORLD CUP MATCH ANALYSIS ASSIGNMENT Mexico vs. Czechia Elite Soccer Academy 24 (ESA24) ───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── OBJECTIVE The goal of this assignment is to begin developing your ability to watch soccer as a student of the game. Pay close attention to what happens both on and off the ball throughout the match. ───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── QUESTION 1 What does Mexico do immediately after losing possession? Observe the team's reaction within the first few seconds after losing the ball. Notes: - Do they press immediately? - Do they drop into a defensive shape? - Which players react first? - Is the reaction organized or individual? Answer: Mexico usually tried to win the ball back right away by pressing the player who won it. The closest players reacted first while the rest of the team quickly got into shape to block passing lanes. The reaction of the players closest to the ball were more individual while the players that were farther were more organized. QUESTION 2 How does Mexico build out from the back? Pay attention to goal kicks and moments when possession starts deep in their own half. Notes: - Which players get involved? - Where are the passing options? - What patterns do you notice? - How do they create space? Answer: Mexico started most attacks by playing short passes from the goalkeeper to the center backs. The midfielders dropped deeper to give passing options. They moved the ball patiently to create space before looking for a pass through the midfield or down the wings instead of just forcing a pass or a through ball. QUESTION 3 What movements happen before a player receives the ball? Focus on what players do before they touch the ball. Notes: - Do they check away and back? - Do they create separation from defenders? - Are they scanning before receiving? - How do they position their body? Answer: Before receiving the ball, Mexico's players were constantly checking their shoulders to see where defenders and teammates were. They often checked away from their defender and then moved back into space, creting separation. Most players received the ball with an open body so they have more passing options and better first touches.
Question
Coach Jessie, what would I enter on the game evaluation form if I didn’t have a game this week
🚨 Elite Soccer Academy Staff Announcement 🚨
As Elite Soccer Academy continues to grow rapidly, it’s important that we continue building a strong team behind the scenes so every athlete continues receiving the attention, detail, and support they deserve. With that being said, I’m excited to officially welcome @Justin Eisenmann to the Elite Soccer Academy team. ⚽️ @Justin Eisenmann brings valuable experience from his playing background, including college soccer at Biola University — a rival school to Azusa Pacific University, where we built a lot of history competing against each other. He also spent time training in an academy environment in Germany. His experience, perspective, and willingness to help will be a great addition to what we’re building here at ESA. @Justin Eisenmann will primarily help with administrative and behind-the-scenes work within the academy. This is extremely important because it allows me to focus even more on coaching, player development, communication, and making sure every athlete continues receiving the right level of detail and care throughout their journey. He’s also always open to answering questions and supporting the growth of both the players and the community however he can. We also have something very exciting being worked on behind the scenes for the end of June 👀🌍 That’s all I’ll say for now… stay tuned. Welcome to the team, @Justin Eisenmann 💪
