Universal Resource Sharing 🫴🏻📃
Hi everyone! So with the group continuing to ramp up and the discussions beginning to build - which I am so proud of - it was brought to my attention we should open up a resource sharing page! So here it is! If you've got some things you've created, cards, quests, theme tips, decoration ideas, etc...let's share them all here! I'll continue to add mine into the Loot Chest but would love to see what everyone is creating! Ready...set...share!

@Scott Hebert Definitely!
Looking for all the info!
I think that this is too much for me to implement this year - may be switching grades for next year. I have been going through all of the info from Scott to try and get myself educated first! What do you all use to host your information? Do you use a specific platform for students to access? I'm so interested in this, but just don't know how to even start!

The Blacksmith ⚒️
Welcome to the Blacksmith Shop 👋🏻 In this area, you can post any questions or issues regarding materials, links, graphics, or anything else that isn't working properly. Please understand, especially if you are an early joiner, that I am trying to build a very engaging and fun community. I am learning—more or less teaching myself—how to do all of this by creating graphics, apps, quizzes, puzzles, password-protected files, and so on. With all that in mind, there are bound to be an error or two. Posting them here will allow me to troubleshoot them ASAP so everything can run smoothly for everyone! Thanks! -Master Heebs ✒️

@Scott Hebert I haven't, I've only tried on my phone. I'll give that a try. Thanks!

@Scott Hebert Yes, it must have just been off screen. Works on a laptop.

1️⃣ Your Theme ➡️ What world do you know well enough to 'Master'? (Medieval, Space, Noir, Sports, etc.) I went for Elizabethan England, because I originally was going to just gamify my Romeo and Juliet unit. The kids are so into it though, we're continuing on! So I had a bit of a conundrum because I had pigeonholed myself into that theme. My solution is I'm creating a new world called " Votherius" (vo-tare-ius) which has different realms. We'll be leaving Elizabethan England for Enchanted Forest journey for our novel study. 2️⃣ The World's Name ➡️ Give your course/subject a 'Game Name' (like Scientia Terra). Vothetius 3️⃣ Character Classes ➡️Name one 'Class' your students could choose & a 'Perk' (power) they may get. I have some linked to Elizabethan England now, like The Friar (gain 5 health each week), The Thief (gain 5 gold after defeated boss battles), The Knight (1 extra damage in boss battles) 4️⃣ Design Your Worlds ➡️Examine your curriculum and design your worlds/levels! Romeo and Juliet - Elizabethan England Novel Study - Enchanted Forest Adventure Trail Poetry - Survivor Island Tropical deserted island theme Film - undecided yet, because this is kind of a mini unit. Might do it more like a bonus round. Maybe something related to the Truman Show since thats the film we use. 5️⃣ Thematic Language ➡️Make at least 3 different language connections between your curriculum class and the theme you'd like to use! Campfires - novel study discussion that are recorded and marked. Story Map One Pagers - These are sheets they create during reading mapping the key info, themes, motifs, characters, quotes etc. They are the entrance requirements for campfire discussions. Also summarize. Route Quests - these are like side quests and are required along the way.

@Scott Hebert thanks Scott!
Strategies to Manage all the Elements
One of my biggest struggles with gamificatuon is keeping track of all the numbers... the XP, the leaderboard/levels, the health, the resources, the cards etc etc. Right now I'm relying on student honesty and for them to track their own health, money etc, and I'm keeping track of other aspects on a spreadsheet. I would love to hear any strategies you've found that work well for keeping track of everything and any ideas you have on automating it!

@Scott Hebert I have a few job postings in the works right now! I have them self tracking health right now, but Im pretty sure there is a ton of cheating going on! Haha. Do you just use an excel sheet?
