A funny memory I have from my late Father was his recollection of his time at a skilled nursing facility, before he came to live with us for hospice. Basically, you have all these old folks in what is, for most, their final destination before the great reward. He recounted how everyone there was effectively just living uninhibited, like every day could be the last. So, while time could have been kinder to most, they were treating it like college kids on Spring Break. Except, instead of free flowing alcohol, it was free flowing personal lubricant and anti-psychotic meds. And considering most have dementia or similar memory issues, it was like hooking up with someone new every time. I'm not sure how much of that was 100% true. I had a lot of unanswered questions from that story. My father had dementia too and loved to embellish his stories a bit after a few fingers of Irish Whiskey. I try not to visualize it too much. But I will never look at one of those facilities the same way again. 🫠 My point in sharing that? Well, it's definitely not a love story... But your song brought out that memory... If you think you've missed out on the best parts with someone, it's apparently never too late to start something new... and definitely make the most of it before you're stuck in a facility with a bunch uninhibited folks who no longer care about the love part. 🤷♂️
