One of the greatest gifts you can give your children is good character—but do not let it be the only gift. Teach them to be kind, respectful, humble and compassionate. But while teaching them kindness, also teach them courage. Teach them to say "No" when something violates their values. Teach them that obedience without wisdom can become dangerous, and loyalty without discernment can lead to exploitation. Prepare them for life's realities. Let them know that failure, rejection, betrayal, heartbreak and disappointment are not the end of life but part of the journey that shapes resilient people. The strongest characters are often forged in life's hardest moments. Most importantly, teach them that not everyone will repay kindness with kindness. Some people will misunderstand them, take advantage of them, or mistake their gentleness for weakness. Yet, despite all this, remind them never to become bitter. Do not let the cruelty of the world steal the goodness in their hearts. Raise children who are kind but not naïve; respectful but not voiceless; humble but not timid; compassionate but not easily exploited. Prepare them not only to live in the world, but to stand firm without allowing the world to change who they are. ~ShamelDdon
