What are you currently working on?
Hope you're having an amazing week! How does your music journey look like at the moment? What are you playing, listening to, discovering right now? I personally have decided this year to circle back a bit more into creativity rather than technique alone. So I'm working on finding a practice routine that's authentic to these goals but keeps my chops up as well. Apart from that producing a lot, which is heaven. ;) Curious where your musical journeys are at right now.

Finish-it Friday #12
๐Ÿ‘‹ ๐Ÿฅณ Happy new year! Hereโ€™s a creative lick challenge for the first weekend of 2026. Here's what to do: Step 1: Watch the video below. Step 2: Learn the lick. Step 3: Make up your own variation, record and share it under this post. โœจ I'm excited to see what you'll come up with. Have a great weekend!

Little Impro using this pattern in the style of the last of us, was a fun one to play with even tho it emotionally landed completely elswhere than sound of silence ^^
Happy New Years - Progress
Hey All, Iโ€™ve been away for quite some time due and have not been able to pick up the guitar. Iโ€™ve recently been able to pick it up and work on my fundamentals in scales, techniques, etc.. that Iโ€™ve been able to apply it in a real music sceneโ€ฆ sorta. Hereโ€™s a cool little clip jamming in the key of D. I looped a chord picking pattern from a Dmaj7 to A. While using the D Major pentatonic shape on the bass! With my buddy on the drums. Will have to attempt some sort of guitar lead/solo in the future when revisiting this. Definitely can use this as motivation to be able to write my own songs someday! Happy New Year!

@Jaime Ayala If you want an open source alternative that has a bit more of a steep learning curve but is very capable you could also try Reaper. Started with it one and a half years ago, never looked back.
Metronome Timing
@Christian Lie my apologies for being late. Here is the metronome timing lesson. I started out really good and every time I pushed record it was like I was using somebody elseโ€™s hand. I was getting frustrated so I had to stop.

Yeah, the record button hunts all of us.^^ Be it in the studio, making a YouTube video, the chances of me screwing something up increase exponentially as soon as I hit record. But practicing with a metronome is one of the best ways to improve that problem :)
Youtube VS Copyright
Hello, hope you all re having an amazing friday! ๐Ÿ”ฅ I wanted to ask in this community since I know especially @Nikola Gugoski and @Christian Lie among probably many others have a lot of experience with this. I love using examples from famous bands/artists when showing stgh on the guitar, its how I ve been teaching 1o1 here in Vienna all my life, however on youtube when I do that there is this Copyright Claim hovering over my head, some videos get strikes others dont. I dont use original recordings, I simply play the gutiar parts and talk yet those get copyright strikes. I want to record some covers/song breakdowns in the future but dont know if theres any point. How do you guys go about that? Is it not a big deal since it only affects (currently nonexistent) monetisation, or could it end up getting me banned from the platform ? Did you guys really go all the length of attaining official permissions for using tracks? D greatly appreciate some insights from people with more experience. :) Thanks in advance ๐Ÿ™

@Christian Lie thank you! Its funny this one ended up being well received, I did it in one day, dont remember how long it was the last week before Christmas so I recorded/edited and released 2 weeks for my course, this one and a third video with a jam (coming this wednesday) I d say, 1hr planning/title/thumbn., 1-2hrs recording, 2-4hrs editing. Hope to get faster tho in the future

@Christian Lie Let's say the concept is part of my course, my current one is less about modal pentatonics and more about using the basic minor pentatonic creatively, but ideally both give people tools that they can actually make music with :) Also the camera problem is so true, started filming myself everyday the past months be it for content or the courses and slowly things are getting easier :)
