Keyword Ranking Expectations and Competitor Leapfrogging
Hi everyone, I’m currently using the Page Optimization tool in Moz Pro to optimize our website for specific keywords. Our optimization scores are looking good, especially since we’ve carefully crafted these pages with the correct search intent/keyword focus in mind. However, our site is still relatively new and doesn’t have a lot of backlinks yet. We’re competing for some pretty tough keywords. Given that our page optimization/paired keyword score is solid in Moz Pro, we could just wait and see if our rankings improve over time. But I’m wondering if there’s a tool that can analyze the top SERP results for these keywords, providing insights into metrics like Domain Authority, Page Authority, and the number of backlinks each competitor has. And insights into the backlink strength. Essentially, I want to understand the gap between us and those currently ranking at the top. What would be the easiest way to gather this information? Should I focus on analyzing the top results (e.g., positions 1-10), or would it be helpful to also look at the rankings around our current position (e.g., positions 40-50) to see what it might take to leapfrog them? Any advice or tool recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @Hina Irshad and @Jonathan Boshoff, Based on your recommendations, I’m diving into some research on our top ā€œstriking distanceā€ competitors, along with the top 5 SERP competitors for our focus keywords. SEMrush has been a great tool for this research. I’m currently evaluating them based on the following attributes: • Page Authority • Domain Authority • Referring Domains • Backlinks • Internal Links (Any suggestions on important attributes to consider for internal links, besides the number?) • URL Keywords Are these the most critical factors to consider, or am I missing any essential attributes? Additionally, how would you rank these factors in terms of importance, from most to least important?

Thanks for all the answers so far! I’m gathering that analyzing the search intent and relevance of competitors is a key priority when targeting specific keywords. While I know Google does a great job of assessing these factors, I’m curious about how we can measure and evaluate search intent and relevance as metrics for both our competitors and our own content. What exact metrics or methods do you recommend for this type of assessment? Are there specific tools or frameworks you find particularly useful in identifying how well content aligns with search intent and user needs?
Ensuring Correct Image Display in Google Search Results
Hi there, We are currently working on optimizing our website’s images for better visibility in Google search results, but we’ve been encountering some issues with mapping our images correctly. Specifically, we want to ensure that our images are properly correlated with their respective URLs in search results. We have been looking into the standard practices by using the alt, and title attributes, but have any of you figured out the best practices to ensure that images show up correctly and are accurately mapped to their respective URLs in Google search results? Thank you, Claudia
