Calling everyone who has joined recently but hasn't said hello yet! 👋 We want to meet you, & I also want to make sure you're finding your way around. Hi everyone! I live in Virginia, but at the moment I'm on an airplane at the Seattle Airport. Looking out my window, I see the snowy peaks of majestic Mount Rainier peeking out above some puffy clouds!
Prompt #3: 3 min. Blind Contour Shoe
Practice overriding your brain and letting your eyes do all the work with a blind contour drawing. Your challenge this week: Draw a shoe without looking at your paper. Step 1: Pick a single shoe from your closet - one with fun curves, laces, or details Step 2: Set a timer for three minutes (or just play your favorite song if timers give you anxiety!) Step 3: Lock your eyes on the shoe and start drawing. Trace the contours with your eyes, letting your hand mimic the movement on the page. No peeking down, and no erasing - just let your lines be! Step 4: Share your weird shoe sketch with us! The cool thing about blind contour drawings is that even though they look very strange, there are always bits here and there that let you know exactly what the object is. That’s the power of contour drawing!

Voilà 😊
Quick check-in: Where ya at with the Continuous Line Flower prompt?
No matter where you’re at, remember that in Fun Drawing Club, the finished drawing doesn’t matter to us. The only goal is training our eyes to really look. Let's chat about it in the comments!

I've been stuck in Valley Green Naturals production for a few days. Hoping to do my continuous drawing tomorrow morning!

@Beth Hempton It is my company, yes! We're in the process of transitioning to part time production since I will soon be spending several months of the year in France. Products are marked out of stock on the website at the moment, but longtime clients seem to be happy placing special orders for now.
Welcome to our new art salon! 🎨 Let’s build this together.
Hey everyone - so happy you're here! 🎉 If you look around and notice that "fresh paint" smell, you’re right. This community is brand new, the canvas is completely blank, and you are part of the very first wave of members to step inside. I wanted to take a moment to say a massive thank you for being here at the very beginning. Launching a new space can feel a bit like staring at a blank page, but seeing you all join makes it incredibly exciting. 💗 My vision for this group is simple: to build a warm, encouraging, and judgment-free art community where we can all shake off the intimidation of drawing and simply get better together. No matter your skill level; whether you haven't picked up a pencil since grade school, you're looking to build a daily drawing habit, or you're already filling sketchbooks, you have a place at this table. 💗 We are going to learn, make mistakes, share our messy sketches, and celebrate the wins together. I'll be sending Drawing Prompts out to my email list every Sunday morning, and also starting a new thread for that prompt in the "Sharing our Work" tab of our community space here on Skool. So make sure your Skool notifications are on, and/or you're subscribed to my newlsetter: Fun Drawing Club on Substack. https://substack.com/@fundrawingclub 💌 But first, let’s get to know each other! Let's get the ball rolling with a quick lil' icebreaker... 🧊 Hit the "Comment" button below and introduce yourself! Here are some questions you might want to answer: 1. Where are you tuning in from? 2. What is your biggest hurdle with drawing right now? (examples: finding time, fear of messing up, drawing specific subjects, etc.) 3. What are you most excited to sketch or to master as we go? 4. Bonus Points: If you're feeling brave, snap a quick photo of your current sketchbook, your favorite drawing pen/pencil, or even a messy doodle you did this week and drop it in your comment! We love seeing the raw process here.

Hi, I'm Cindy, and I'm happy to be here! I live in the Northern Virginia countryside, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Since there's no shortage of natural beauty here, I've always loved painting and photographing trees, nature and forest scenes. My drawing skills could use a lot more practice! Here are a couple of my paintings, along with a pen & ink watercolor scene I'm playing around with. Looking forward to lots of fun in this group!

@Beth Hempton Thanks Beth. I'll definitely keep you posted on how the pen & ink is coming along!
Prompt #1: An item on your desk - Share your sketch in the comments!
🎨Pick a single object on your desk right now (or nearby if you aren’t at a desk). It could be your coffee mug, a pair of scissors, or even your phone charger. ⏲️Give yourself about three minutes to do a simple contour drawing (using only line). 🎨No erasing allowed - just let your lines be! ⭐Share your sketch with us in the comments below using the paperclip to attach a pic. I've added mine here to start us off. P.s. If you’re feeling nervous about sharing a “messy” sketch, remember that “perfect” drawings are pretty boring. We want to see your one-of-a-kind lines, quirks & all.
