ā€œGood parentingā€
Before kids, I thought good parenting meant: • Always being patient • Having a perfectly clean house • Cooking healthy meals every night • Kids who listened the first time After kids, I’ve learned good parenting sometimes looks like: • Apologizing when you lose your patience • Chicken nuggets for dinner • A messy house but lots of laughter • Teaching the same lesson 37 times And guess what? That’s okay. Sometimes the best parenting happens through the mistakes we make. Kids don’t need perfect parents. They need safe, loving, consistent ones. šŸ’¬ Let’s normalize real life. Drop one thing you thought parenting would be like… and what it’s actually like. šŸ‘‡

Weekly family traditions!
I stole this from a great Instagram page (shameless plug. Go check them out!) and I love the idea of creating culture around family traditions. Check out the list they suggested. What are some weekly family traditions you have in your home?

It tends to be harder during school but especially in the summer time, each kid picks 1 day during the week and that day every week they get to stay up a little later than their siblings and get quality time with mom and dad! It’s been a huge hit!

And Saturdays are game/movie nights!
Sick with littles
Sickness has struck our house! šŸ  I was naive to think we would come out of winter scotch free. Give me your best tips and tricks when you have recovered children and sick parents! Pretty sure all boundaries have flown the coop here. šŸ˜‚

Lots of TV time šŸ˜‚ we love playing Minecraft together, which is easy for us to do when we’re sick. My kiddos love to help me when I’m sick, my daughter esp will do the dishes, sweep, etc. haha
Let’s talk communication!
Quick gut check — when things get tense with your child, which one shows up most often for you? šŸ”¹ Over-explaining šŸ”¹ Shutting down šŸ”¹ Raising your voice šŸ”¹ Repeating yourself 47 times šŸ”¹ Trying to ā€œfixā€ it too fast šŸ”¹ Staying calm on the outside but boiling on the inside Here’s the truth: none of these make you a bad parent. They’re usually signs of stress, exhaustion, or caring a lot. Awareness comes before change. Just noticing your default is a powerful first step. Drop the one that feels most accurate for you šŸ‘‡ (No judgment here. You’re in good company.)
