3 on 2 Rush from the Colorado Avalanche
No crazy high-end skill needed. MAJOR FOCUS POINTS: 1. All 3 forwards come up the ice as a unit. Timing the breakout and weaving together filling lanes. 2. Toe caps facing north on the breakout. Quicker transition. 3. Neutral Zone into Offensive Zone thought process: - WINGERS time the OZ entry, spreading the ice along their respective walls. - CENTER understands the pressure of the defenders, attacks middle ice, and after crossing the blue line, he dishes to his open winger along the wall. Classic simple net drive from our Center, taking defenders with him to the net. Opens the ice up for our LW to walk in with more time and space. Shoot above the pad, below the glove! Pick your spot! 3 Basic Rights to Winning the Mental Game of Hockey
1. Right Focus - Right Focus means knowing exactly who you are as a player and what your role is on the ice. It’s the ability to stay mentally locked into the present moment, read the game with purpose, and consistently direct your attention toward the actions that lead to success. Stay tuned in with the right focus and distractions will fade away. Decisions become sharper, and you start executing with awareness and confidence. 2. Right Feelings - Right Feelings are about creating and maintaining emotional states that allow you to perform at your highest level. For some players, that means feeling energized, aggressive, and ready to attack the game. For others, it’s about staying calm, confident, centered, and in control. There is no one “correct” feeling—only the feeling that brings out your best hockey. Right Feelings allow you to play free from fear, anger, or pressure, helping you trust your instincts and compete with clarity and composure. 3.Right attitude - Right Attitude is the foundation of long-term success in hockey. A winning attitude is built on motivation, self-discipline, commitment, and a genuine love for the game. It’s the mindset that pushes you to show up every day, embrace challenges, learn from adversity, and stay resilient through setbacks. Right Attitude allows you not only to perform at your current level, but to continually grow, excel your potential, and prepare yourself for the next level.
