Chopping suits
Hey divers Time for a new wetty jacket and all the good ones here in Aus have hoods on them. Last few I’ve just chopped them with scissors, but wondering if there are any tricks for a neater seam/cut eg hot knife?? Or neoprene tape etc… what do you guys do?

Black panther snips do a good job
Beginning the grind
Hey all, new to the group and just about to start the journey. 24, from the UK, living in UAE & spent the last 5 years working commercial office jobs because I thought ‘I had to’ to make money, but last few months realised that my time working in industrial construction + teaching rec diving were some of the best times of my life. Figured what better way to make a career than combining my love for being subsea with my love for construction work and move towards commercial diving. I previously worked with a number of commercial diving companies out here in UAE and I’m wondering if a sensible pivot would be to try to find an opportunity with one of them and try to get them to semi-fund my training…? Not sure if anyone has any experience with that going successfully…?

Havent heard of that personally, not to say that it can't happen. I have heard of companies paying for their air divers to do their sat course but generally they have to sign a contract of some sort agreeing to work with saud company for a minimum time to pay back the course. Might work for some but then again the company might end up not having much work. I would definitely see it a saturation a wiser move to save up and pay for the course yourself or potentially take a loan for it. Could still be worth contacting companies to let them know you will be ready and available once you've done the course.

@Tris Barford means you're free to work for whoever is offering the best rates and has the most work rather than getting stuck with one company
