Credit Repair on collection agencys
When answering the phone make sure you get the name of the company thats calling and DO NOT confirm your name, address or phone number. Instead get the collection agency number pull your credit report (I like to use Experian.com because you can get all 3 bureaus for free) and see if you have a collection from that agency. If there is a collection on your report in that agency's name dispute it. The credit bureaus will then send a letter saying the dispute is valid. All you need to do is send a follow up letter saying you need proof of authorization that you allowed that company to have your information and to show proof that you owe that debt. The collection will be taken off within 30 days.
