Friday‘s Community Question
Today’s very important community question: What’s a cuisine you absolutely love that is not your own home cuisine? 🍕🍱🥟🌮🌯 I’ll go first: My absolute, absolute, like I mean REALLY absolute top favorite cuisine is the Japanese cuisine. Not necessarily sushi but all kinds of homecooked meals. So healthy and delicious. I also like authentic Chinese food, nice ‚n spicy 😇, Thai & Korean as well. And no, I don‘t cook German food anymore since years 😂 What about you?
@Jutta Schneider sounds yum…My favourite dish to make at home would be a Chow Mein with seafood, veggies and bbq pork/chicken. There’s always hot sauce on the side for my other half as I’m not a hot spice type.

@Julia V Our problem (it’s a good problem to have) is that we have many Asian restaurants and other cuisines to choose from. My favourite dinner is “so long as I don’t have to cook” i.e. we are eating out. 😂😆
Wednesday Check-In
Alright, now that my studio makeover is done, I can focus again on what’s most important to all of us: art-making. 😇 So, I would like to ask you today: What’s one tiny thing that has made art-making easier or more enjoyable for you lately? Let’s all share our little tips and tricks so we can learn from one another! Mine is: Using the same color palette for several drawings instead of starting from scratch every time. Not only does it help tremendously while drawing, but it also creates this cohesive look that people recognize as “style”. It can also be a limitation that makes you think outside the box! What if the item you would like to draw is originally red, but you don’t have red in your color palette? Now you’re practicing problem-solving, too! Now tell me yours! 👇

@Cynthia Brown Thanks for the info. I will have to look this up. So much neater than my hand drawn crooked swatch boxes.

@Jutta Schneider Yes, swatching is so therapeutic. No better feeling like testing out new art supplies 🤗
Tadaah!
Today I had a playdate with a few buckets of paint 😇🤩❤️
Tadaah!
So bright and cheerful! Love it!
Thursday Check-In
Hello lovely artists, how are you all doing? Is it also hot where you are? Today we had 42°C / 108°F, nice & toasty… I actually wanted to host a little shading live session this week but, believe it or not, I managed to catch a cold. Because what’s more fun than 42°? Yes, 42° with a sore throat and earache 🤪 So I will postpone that to next week. How about you share your family recipes instead? What are you doing against a cold and/or what do you do to keep yourself nice and cool? Let’s have some fun sharing what our grandmothers taught us! Ok, me first: To fight a sore throat you can slowly enjoy a spoonful of honey every hour or so. It’s anti-inflammatory and helps calm irritated mucous membranes. And to keep you cool, you should drink warm water, not ice-cold. Your body has to spend energy warming up ice-cold water, which can make you sweat even more. Who’s next? 😇

Oh dear! Hope you feel better soon. If I had a cold/sore throat when I was younger, my dad would mix up a concoction of a fresh lime juice, honey to sweeten and a few drops of 100% Jamaican Overproof Rum. It tasted gross but it got the yucky phlegm stuff out. Stay cool and get lots of rest too.
Welcome to The Wonky Art Society! Say hi 👋
Welcome, lovely artists, I’m so happy you’re here! ❤️ The Wonky Art Society is a low-pressure space for digital artists, Procreate lovers and creative humans who want to draw more, practice with joy and grow their skills without perfectionism ruining all the fun. To get things started, I’d love to know a little bit about you. Introduce yourself in the comments and tell us: 1. Where are you from? 2. Are you more of a digital artist, traditional artist, or happily chaotic mix of both? 3. What would you love to get out of this community? And lastly (and that, to me, is the most fun part) Tell us one of your weirdest quirks! 😇 I can’t wait to make art with you, the low-pressure way. Let me start: 1. I'm Jutta, artist and educator based in Düsseldorf, Germany. 2. I'm mostly a digital artist (no mess, ya know, no setting up a gazillion of tools and cleaning brushes and stuff 😇) but I also love drawing with alcohol & acrylic markers. 3. I want to share my philosophy "Getting good at art-making should not feel hard. Practice is key of course but you can only keep a sustainable art-making habit when you actually love what you're doing." I would like to meet cool artsy people and spend time with them talking about the stuff we all love. And my weirdest quirk: I love watching my Kitchen Aid mix ingredients into a nice and smooth dough. So satisfying.

Hi, thanks for having me here. I have experimented in lot of traditional mediums and I like to work digitally too. My weirdness lately 🤪 - I have been creating and selling my ACEOs on eBay - all for fun, not for riches. Also, love seeing other artists works and enjoy seeing the kindness shared in this community.

@Mira Durrant nice to meet you. I am lucky to have two soft furry assistants to pet while I’m trying to create. Sometimes they are more helpful than others, but they are good for my mental health too. 🐈‍⬛ 🐈

I enjoy exploring different mediums for creative play - acrylics, watercolours, encaustic, collage and oil & cold wax.
