Protecting your people...
How do you protect your people when the person above you doesn't care about them?

I've become the demilitarized zone for every team I have led. More often than not, i have north korea and its supreme leader over my head. Below me, a freer, happier people. Nothing crosses that border. No remarks, no contraband, no guided missiles meant to hurt my people. But the effects of taking all the negativity and turning it into positivity has left a tremendous mark on my physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing. And sometimes that made me hard, and sometimes it makes me soft. But when the people above don't like your people, the only thing you can do is absorb the negativity.
The People You Can't Fire
New month in Chambers, new theme. This one's called The People You Can't Fire. Watch the two-minute video below first. Then the question. Picture the one person at work who lives rent-free in your head. Don't name them; we're off the record. Just tell us: are they above you, beside you, or below you on the org chart? That's where we're starting. I'll go first in the comments.

@Sharon Shaffer i would have given anything to have a leader like you when it was tough. So be proud of how you showed up for them. I can tell you - if i wasn't a single mom who needed to be ok, i wouldn't have been ok. Doesn't make the experience any easier. But the fact that you stood beside them, and behind them to catch them when they fell, that is the embodiment of what makes women so powerful

Been at this for a long time. And only realised i've been doing it with ADHD a year ago. That's when it all made sense.
