Tell me something. What is the most random thing that has ever triggered you? Not the big obvious ones. The weird ones. A song from ten years ago. The smell of a specific soap. The sound of a particular ringtone. A font on a sign. The way someone clears their throat. Something so small and specific that you could never explain it to anyone — but your body knew immediately. 🌿 Thursday Skillset: You've done the work, now what?
The therapy. The journaling. The supplements. The breathing. You have shown up for yourself over and over again. And something is still running underneath all of it. That's not a you problem. That's not a willpower problem. That's not even a mindset problem. Here's what nobody tells you: your nervous system doesn't speak logic. You can know — really know — that the situation is over. That you're safe. That there's no reason to feel this way anymore. And your body still fires the same response. Every. Single. Time. That's because the nervous system speaks a completely different language. It doesn't respond to reasoning. It doesn't respond to intention. It responds to signal. Inside LifeSet we work with tools that speak that language directly. Somatic practices, naturopathic approaches, neuroscience-based techniques — all designed to meet your body where it actually is. Here are a few simple skills your nervous system actually understands: 1.) Box Breathing Breath in for 4 counts. Now hold for 4. Exhale for 4. Then pause 4 counts before restarting. This technique is known to regulate your stress response in under two minutes. Works anywhere. 2.) 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding 5 things you see. 4 you hear. 3 you can touch. 2 you smell. 1 you taste. Pulls you out of threat mode and back into the present moment. 3.) Touch and Breathe Gently touch the side of your hand and breathe slowly three times. Then move through the eight reminder points: top of head, eyebrow, side of eye, under eye, under nose, chin, collarbone, under arm. One round. Two minutes. Your nervous system gets the message. 4.) The Physiological Sigh Double inhale through the nose — then one long exhale through the mouth. One of the fastest known way to reduce stress in real time. One breath. 💬 Now I want to hear from you. 🌿 Week 1 Begins — Find the Root
Today is Day 1. And before we do anything else I want to name what this week actually is. This week is not about pushing through something hard. It is not about diving into your biggest wound or your most painful memory. This week is about one thing — finding what is actually underneath. Most of the exhaustion, the patterns, the situations you have to brace for — they are symptoms. And symptoms point to something. A specific moment. A specific event. Something your nervous system stored and has been responding to ever since. This week we find that thing. Gently. Safely. Without overwhelming yourself. Here is your only job today. Write down one loaded moment. Not your biggest one — your lowest charge one. The thing that rates maybe a two or three out of ten on your distress scale. Something that has a little charge but does not feel overwhelming. Rate it zero to ten. Write the number down. That is your starting point. We will come back to it at the end of the week and you will see what has moved. Do not tap on it yet. Just notice it. Let me tell you exactly what you just said yes to. The 28-Day Root Challenge is not a course you consume. It is a guided process, the same work I use in one-on-one sessions, to help you find, clear, and release what your nervous system has been holding onto. Here is how the process works: Week 1 — Find the Root You identify your loaded moments, the people, places, memories, and situations your system still reacts to. I'll go first! A pattern I still catch myself in is trying to do everything at once. I know better. I can literally see it happening in real time, but something in me still goes “if I just push a little harder, I can get it all done today.” And then I end up scattered instead of effective. It’s funny because this work is literally about slowing down and working with one thing at a time, but my default is still speed and overload. And I know that if I slow down, I actually speed up, because I finish one thing completely and efficiently. But I'm still tempted to have a hundred tabs open and none of the tasks all the way complete!! So I’m working with that as my “repeat pattern” right now. Just noticing it, not trying to fix it all in one go.

@Faith Christiansen A lot of people assume their parents would do anything to save them. I am in the rare position of knowing it's true of my mom. Not only once, but for years. I wouldn't be here if not for my mom. And after she turned what was a hopeless situation around for me, she didn't stop. She went on and then helped others. She has been my ultimate role model.
