Those Squirrels!
Oh, they are so cute! And such entertaining clowns. Until they start digging in the garden. Digging up seeds and potatoes, nibbling on the flowers and shoots. Stealing vegetables. Grrr! Now that is annoying. So what is one to do. There are several things that work, at least for a while. - Probably the most important is to give them something to do away from the garden, like a feeder. - Predators help some, especially hawks. - Put up things that flash and move in or near the garden. - The most important in a small space or container garden is to create a barrier. I use chicken wire and form it around the pot a few inches above the plant that I want to protect. The plant can grow through it, but the squirrels have a hard time getting to the base of the plant and the soil. What tricks have you used to keep the squirrels from damaging your harvest?

I put cat fur in my pots. I don't know if it's working yet.

Workshop Replay

@Manitu Okahas They just got shocked by a sudden temperature drop and bounced back when I brought them inside. There's nothing really to do about it
Dehybridizing
You can create open pollinated vegetables from hybrids. Check out this video.

Upcoming Workshops
Just a friendly reminder that April's Workshop will be split into 2 parts. I would love to have you join both sessions or just one. The topics are related but one does not affect the other. April 18 at 2pm Eastern - Creative Containers You Have We will take an hour and explore free and inexpensive ways to come up with containers for your Tiny Gardens and how to get them ready for your plantings. April 25 at 2pm Eastern - Planting The Container Garden I will be taking one of the containers that I prepared on the 18th and taking it to a complete garden and take a look at some other gardens that are done. Come and join us and Show what you are putting together or get some pointers on what you want to put together.
