Stress lives within you, even when no one else can see. I currently am in a phase of PTSD healing where my nervous system is fragile and begging for love. They call this nervous system collapse - it functioned so hard for so long, now that I’m safe it can finally ask for the care IT needs, the downtime, the naps, the kid gloves… I’m paying the bill I racked up for 4.5 years now. But no one can see how I feel inside, if you asked those around me I’m doing really really well and I’m sure most forgot about my trauma and have minimized my situation down to a simple divorce. But it’s not a simple divorce, and my trauma was severe. I’ve been cleaning off my kitchen table for almost 2 full weeks now, and I’m not done. The only reason the table was able to be started was my therapist (online) talked to me for the entire hour of session while I moved things into simple categories or boxes to deal with later. That’s the level of dysfunction I’m working in, but no one knows. I’ll stop here and say, thank you for the space to be open, thank you for reading my words and hearing me, thank you for not minimizing what I’m going through, and thank you for the support - I already feel a lot more held even sitting at the kitchen table more than half a world away with tears streaming down my face. Thank you.
