Eureka!
Follow-up to my recent post about my worms attempting to escape: I applied the migration method, placing current bedding on one side and new bedding—PC and coco coir with mushed strawberries—on the other. I did this on Saturday. Checking the next day, I observed they were already moving across. Today is Monday; as I gradually removed the old bedding, I found no worms, only a few wisps. Within two days, all the worms had migrated to the new side, and none are trying to escape. When I saw that they all have moved in such a short time ( a lot worms btw) I was so happy for the win! I’ve been keeping all my bins under the sink in my bathroom and because my bin system is growing and I need to split this bin eventually I am working on a new setup for most of them, ENC will stay under sink for now due to the size of their bin, I have purchased a 3 drawer storage system. I hope this works for them and allows me to be able to tend to them easier. Thanks for the help! 😁

@Cherene Packard thank you. 😊 I filled the other side after removing the old bedding with PC. Checked them today and they have spread out now.

@Cherene Packard i have not sifted out yet. I am ordering sifters from Amazon so I can do so. In the mean time I have old bedding in a small bin covered in case I missed some of the much smaller worms and of course due to the cocoons. Will keep you posted!
We Have A Problem
the worms In my grow out bin seem to not be happy several are trying to escape. Did a fluff last night and this morning I realized I left their avocado out so I went to throw it back in and I found several together at the top and others. This is my original bin that I started and has been doing very well, I almost 2 months old. I checked the moisture it’s good so I’m lost on what is wrong. Not doing anything different than before. I am planning on soon splitting this bin up, it has a lot of worms, and I am waiting on my pre-compost that has a mind of its own right now. I made a successful breeder bin from some adult worms from this bin. Again waiting on pre-compost to start another. Those worms are currently in holding on a miniature bin.

@Cherene Packard they are inside. I think it’s become casting heavy. They seem to like the new bedding with PC and coco coir, started migrating in the first 24 hours. Only had a few worms on the sides.

@Cherene Packard thank you. I’m looking forward to see the rate they plow through their new bedding
PC
What to do with lox that won’t come to temp…highest it has come up was 95 at the initial heat up cycle. Can I make a new patch and add it to it?

@David Humphrey it’s close to 17 gallons. I found it abandoned on side of the road and this was the first thing to use it for instead of buying one. 💁🏽‍♀️

@Jason Evans I agree with you totally. I found a local business to me for the second set of reds

@Cherene Packard I would like a bit of everything. Working on my first batch of PC but it hasn’t been very successful so I can jump-start breeder bins and castings. Recently had success with my first breeder bin…so exciting seeing them hatch. I’m just disappointed on the first attempt of PC.
