Major Ah-Hap Moment โ€”Seeing Diatonic Scale in ONE Position
i had a major breakthrough last night & today so wanted to share in case anyone else is working on something along these lines. Iโ€ve been stuck on this for quite a while so this is huge for me. So long as I digest it throughly before I eat again ๐Ÿ˜Ž. Playing all 7 chords in the same position I think what really helped understand triads and the fretboard more is the note/scale/chord relationship! I drew it out on paper one chord at a time but stating within 0-5 pentatonic boundary. Sorry if itโ€™s super confusing but the point is in there. John let me knowโ€ฆ..

What Music Led You To Guitar?
I was scrolling in the am drinking coffee and just enjoying what I was seeing. Thatโ€™s when I came upon this old band and instantly remembered why I play guitarโ€ฆ.. ๐Ÿ”ฅ Maybe not for everyone but this type or raw. unadulterated, percussive chug and thunder! What got you into guitar? Iโ€™d love to see and hear from you all in our community. Been quiet ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ https://www.instagram.com/reel/DX3a-X7I7aw/?igsh=MWNheTR4dmloOHdjNQ==

My grandfather had this old Gibson acoustic guitar and every time he'd play it my brothers and I had to sit and listen. Most of my memories about him involve music in some way. When he passed I got to keep his guitar and now I play it and think of him.

What Does Progress Look Like - To You
As I was going through posts and just checking in when I thought what does progress look like for others? Iโ€™m learning about myself and how progress pops up when youโ€™re not looking! Iโ€™m just keeping my perspective and feeding passion. The other day I was able to see a new layer on the fretboard. Cmaj all over the fretboard including chords, triads, 7th chords, Dom7th, and which pentatonic box is above and below me. After the first two years I learned how much there is to learn or how much I donโ€™t know ๐Ÿคฏ Redirect - wow Iโ€™ll always be able to pickup my guitar and never run out of things to do. Progress as Steve always says happens in small increments but compound over time. So yes looking at one month vs one year is a huge difference. That gives me the motivation to keep on truckin. I heard someone say that most are not capable of understanding a billon vs a million so it made me think of the developing musician. We donโ€™t know how vast music really is so I thought this was neat. There are approx 11 days is 1 million seconds but 31.7 years in 1 billion. The paradox here for me is mindset and grace. No matter how hard you work things take time. Why does it matter when or how you get it as long as you get it, right?

Learning a new song and committing it to memory is progress for me. I play a LOT of senior communities and when I can make them smile and sing along with me it feels like a giant leap for the performance. If I can make one more nursing home happy with music, that's my favorite kind of progress โค๏ธ Thanks for creating this community for us all to connect and share!
