Request for prayer and support -Medical Mission
Hi, I'm reaching out to you all to request your prayer and to share an opportunity to support my little sister Tamika in her next missionary endeavor in South Asia. As a safety precaution I have been instructed not to disclose online the name of the country, specific dates of her travel or the name of the organization she is working with. However, I am permitted and willing to share that information with you in person or over the phone. This placement will be a major shift for her in just about every way, personally, spiritually and professionally. I am very happy she has been blessed with the opportunity to courageously embark into the ministry and medical service that she is being called to. Tamika will essentially be leaving her current job and leaving home for what may begin for a duration of several months to a potentially much longer relocation and placement amongst other countries in Asia. She will earn no income for the work she will be doing during this time and will rely solely on the generous funding and support she can raise. Attached you'll find her support letter detailing her plans, ways you can make a contribution and how to reach her for any further information. @Derick Thomas The Keystone State was a nickname that "stuck" in the 1800s, though it was referenced as early as 1787 when it ratified the Constitution, symbolizing its importance as an arch keystone. An arch keystone is the central stone in an arch that locks all other stones in place, perfect metaphor for describing PA during the late 18th and early 19th century. Pennsylvania is called the "Keystone State" because of its central location among the original 13 colonies and its vital role in holding the new nation together, much like the keystone stone in an arch locks all other stones in place, supporting the entire structure. Its significance comes from these facts of being the following: Geographic Center: It was the physical middle ground connecting the northern and southern colonies. Political Center: Philadelphia hosted the Continental Congresses and was where foundational U.S. documents were created; like the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution and it served as the early U.S. capital. Economic Hub: It was a major center for trade, finance, and later, industry (coal, steel). Pittsburgh- was the nations steel capital by the early 20th century. Symbolic Importance: Its central position in the Union's formation and development cemented the metaphor of the keystone.
