Bottom Alignment Or Weird Returns
If your bottom returns look to have uneven appearance or a hard splice please look into the following. This goes for Active Target 1 & 2 and Livescope LVS32&34. 1. Ensure you have the correct angle. If you're using a 3rd party bracket such at NBT, Fish obsesses or something similar you need to ensure your transducer is in the proper postion. One of the best ways to test this alignment is going to a known area with a wall or vertical pole. Pull up to in and ensure the wall or pole appears as a direct 90. Make a few cast and look to see how your lure appears against this return. If you have competing returns meaning angle opposing eachother or falling away from the target with out pulling on the line. Then you like need to go either a click up or down. 2. Water temp matters. If your transducer has a signficant temp difference than the water then this will cause the return to look different until the water temp and the transducer temp reach the same temp. This primarily is most noticable in cold water where the transducer from travel is sub freezing temps vs the water temp is significantly different. This results in the appearance of bad beam alignment. This should go away as the transducer is left in the water and the temp of the ducer and water get closer to each other. 3. Troller motor shaft or mounting shaft angle. If your boat is sensitive to weight or doesn't sit somewhat level when you stand on the front resulting in shaft lean then this will change your natural transducer angle resulting in odd returns and appearance. If you have too much weight up front or maybe multiple people standing up front you can always offset this a bit by filling your livewells. The goal is to always have the mounting shaft as perfectly vertical up and down as you can.
