Nutrition/recovery.
I heard from an eminently informed source that once in a while just break free of all the nagging rules and get yourself an apple fritter and a Gatorade. Itโ€™ll do wonders.

What is the most challenging in maintaining, or optimizing your training and conditioning for maximum output?

Actually most challenging for me is to not overdo it. Respecting recovery and adaptation adequate to output.
