Playing Guitar Before My Stroke🎶
I hope you don’t mind me sharing this song I wrote before my stroke. It reminds me of the joy I’m working toward again, and I’m grateful for every step of progress along the way. I love playing guitar—not to impress, but to express. Music is a beautiful source of healing, hope, and joy, and a glorious gift from God. Amen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxUiUc-ZsJM
Charlie's Guitar Stroke Recovery Journey
I love playing guitar and during COVID I suffered a “Stroke”. This unexpected stroke affected the whole right-side of my body, in other words, zero movement; this was a very scary experience. Slowly movement is returning through therapy, extreme hard work, staying very positive, being hopeful and many prayers; still healing through the grace of God! After some time has gone by, I started have a strong desire to start playing guitar again. My fret hand is fine, the challenging issue is my picking and strumming right hand, at which I call the engine. So, I accepted this personal challenge to start playing guitar again. I decided to make a weekly video library to document my progress. Please follow me on my journey and I hope this adventure encourages others to do the same. God Bless! https://www.youtube.com/@cwebber402

@Benjamin Wood Thank you, my friend! I really appreciate the encouragement. Hybrid picking is still a work in progress for me, but I’m grateful for every little step forward. I’ll keep practicing, keep learning, and keep going one day at a time.

Charlie's Guitar Stroke Recovery Week 230
Hello Stroke Warriors, welcome to Charlie’s Guitar Stroke Recovery. This week, I want to share with you the importance of persistence in stroke recovery. Through my own journey, I have found that staying persistent and committed to the process has been instrumental in my progress. Let's explore how persistence can lead to success and growth in your recovery journey. Persistence is the act of continuing in a course of action without giving up, even in the face of challenges, obstacles, or setbacks. It involves staying committed to your goals and pushing through difficulties with determination and resilience. In stroke recovery, persistence can mean sticking to your therapy routine, staying positive during setbacks, and believing in your ability to improve. In the Bible, persistence is viewed as a transformative virtue that leads to spiritual growth and maturity. Romans 5:3-4 teaches us that endurance through suffering produces character and hope. By persisting through trials and challenges, we can strengthen our faith and trust in God, leading to ultimate rewards and growth. This week, I took a bold step in my recovery journey by creating music for a friend. I recorded myself singing a song called “Traveling Into Life,” written by Brion Au. This experience pushed me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to express myself through music. As I strummed my guitar and sang the lyrics, I felt a sense of accomplishment and joy. Title: "Traveling Into Life" • Written By: Brion Au • Guitar/Vocals: Charles Webber • Music/Music Arrangement: Charles Webber/Madison Webb Group I encourage you to find ways to challenge yourself and push past your limits in your recovery journey. Whether it's through music, art, exercise, or other creative outlets, stepping out of your comfort zone can help you grow and progress on your path to recovery. Final thoughts, persistence is a key element in stroke recovery. By staying committed to your goals, pushing through challenges, and believing in your ability to improve, you can achieve success and growth in your journey. Remember, every small step forward counts, so keep strumming for life and never give up!

@Larry Cannon Thank you, my friend! I really appreciate you listening and sharing that connection. I’ll have to check out “The Fear” by Travis and “Nature’s Way” by Spirit. I love that the background music came across as hypnotic—that was the feeling I was hoping for. I’m glad you enjoyed the song, and your encouragement means a lot.
Charlie's Guitar Stroke Recovery Week 233
Hello Stroke Warriors and fellow Stroke Warrior musicians! I am truly grateful for your unwavering support on my journey of recovery. As I embark on Week 233 of my guitar stroke recovery, I am reminded of the power of dreams, faith, and perseverance. In this week's reflection, I delve into the importance of holding onto our dreams, believing in the promises of the heart, and working towards our goals with unwavering determination. Have you ever experienced a dream that felt so real, so vivid, that it sparked a fire within you? A dream that whispered to your soul, urging you to believe in its possibility? Dreams have a unique way of igniting our passion, guiding our steps, and shaping our reality. But how do we hold onto these dreams, especially in the face of challenges and setbacks? When we are presented with a dream, it is essential to grasp it firmly, plant it deep within our hearts, and believe in its fulfillment before we even speak of it. As the Bible teaches us, faith is the confidence in what we hope for and the assurance about what we do not see. Just like Mary treasured the promise of birthing the Savior in her heart, we too must nurture our dreams, allowing them to grow and flourish within us. This week, I found myself facing a new challenge in extending motifs for more extended scales on the guitar. Instead of getting discouraged by the complexity of the task, I embraced the process of learning and growing. By experimenting with dominant chords and utilizing diminished 7th arpeggio ideas, I pushed myself out of my comfort zone, building tension and depth in my musical journey. Although the road to mastery is far from perfect, each stumble and stumble serves as a stepping stone towards progress. As I navigate through the intricacies of music theory and technique, I am reminded of the importance of perseverance and patience. Every note played, every chord strummed, brings me one step closer to realizing my dream of guitar proficiency. As I continue to strum towards victory, I am filled with gratitude for the support and encouragement of my fellow Stroke Warriors and musicians. Together, we are not only Warriors in Recovery but also Champions in Life. Let us hold onto our dreams, believe in the promises of our hearts, and work tirelessly towards our goals, no matter the obstacles that stand in our way.

First Time Playing Guitar After My Stroke
Unfortunately, I waited a full year after my stroke before deciding to play guitar again—or more accurately, to relearn it. My first neurologist told me I would never hold or play a guitar again. Needless to say, I found a new doctor! Eventually, I made my own declaration of independence: I was going to relearn guitar. Before my stroke, I played guitar for the U.S. Air Force—tough job, right? Today, I proudly use the term Stroke Warrior, and I have been blessed to meet so many fellow recovering Stroke Warrior musicians. I am witnessing miracles. The attached video shows where it all began four years ago. Through the power of the human spirit, music, encouragement, and—most of all—faith and prayer, I am now about 70 percent recovered in my guitar playing and striving for 100 percent. “Oh yes, it will be mine”—a Wayne’s World quote. Amen! https://www.youtube.com/shorts/J2nbGxJSJaQ
