🎉 Here’s How I Secured a Carrier Through Cold Calling!
Hey everyone! I joined this community a few weeks ago with a goal of making $5,000 to $10,000 per month from dispatching trucks in mind. (introduction post) After completing the free training, I started engaging with people here who have more experience than me. (that is what every beginner should have to do) So that I can learn valuable lessons from their experiences which will help me get started in this industry. And that's exactly what I got!! A lot of value!!😇 One of the biggest steps I took was diving into cold calling. But with the guidance of some incredible mentors here, I took the leap and started cold calling for my childhood best friend’s company. You can check out my earlier post where I asked for advice on cold calling openings: 📞 I need an advice on my Cold Calling Opening... After applying their advice on cold calling, I improved myself a lot, and guess what? I closed a carrier within my first week!!🎉 I want to clarify that I never done cold calling in my entire life. Guys do your daily tasks, work hard, nothing is impossible. Believe in yourself. This win was a huge confidence booster and proof that hard work and consistency pay off. If I can do it, so can you! A few key takeaways from my journey so far: 1️⃣ Engage with experienced people - their advice is pure gold. 2️⃣ Take action daily - progress compounds over time. 3️⃣ Believe in yourself - you’re capable of more than you think. Thank you very much @Gurpreet Gill for making this amazing community. ❤️ Thank you @Syed Abbas @Laura Benne @Gurpreet Gill for guiding me through. A lot of respect. ❤️ I’m beyond excited for what’s ahead. This year, I’m crushing my goals and building a life I’m proud of. Let’s go! 💪 Here’s to our success! 🚀

@Waleed Shafiq that is your ice breaker. Can only go up from here. I use to do vacation sales cold calling. I was so stressed out but when I got that first one everything changed. Good for you man and great job.

@Waleed Shafiq it's all about numbers. The more you dial the better the odds. I did a post a day or 2 ago about cold calling. That formula works and keeps you moving. I would mix this with pushing your website. I believe what Gill is really teaching us is how to generate leads with our marketing funnel and not be tied to a phone doing outbound campaigns. Phone are cold and slow pace. Traffic comes in it's own and is warm and much easier to close
🧠 AI Dispatchers Are Here? Meet “Hey Bubba” – What It Means for Owner-Operators (and Dispatchers)
Hey Everyone 👋, There's a new AI tool making waves in the trucking space called Hey Bubba, pitched as a virtual dispatcher for owner-operators and small fleets. It recently launched at the 2025 Mid-America Trucking Show, and here’s what you need to know: 🔍 What Is “Hey Bubba”? It’s an AI assistant that: - Talks to brokers for you - Books loads via its own load board (20–30K daily loads) - Handles light back-office work like P&L reporting - Will soon integrate with DAT and TruckStop - Has a voice interface like “Siri for trucking” - Is free for the first 3 months, then takes 2% per load it books 🎯 Why It Matters for Dispatchers On one hand, Hey Bubba could be seen as a competitor to dispatchers — it’s marketed toward owner-operators who book their own loads and want to eliminate phone time and negotiation headaches. But on the flip side… this may open up opportunities for dispatchers who are: - Looking to cut down on repetitive tasks - Supporting newer carriers who can’t yet afford full dispatch services - Curious about using AI as an assistant (not a replacement) to improve workflows 💬 Feedback So Far: - 🚛 A fleet owner reported saving 10 hours in one week and booking a $3K load he would’ve missed. - 🤖 Others are wary: “What if it crashes mid-negotiation?” or “I’d rather talk to a broker myself.” - ⚖️ Dispatchers are asking: Can AI handle multi-stop loads, rate negotiations, special requirements, and all the nuances we handle daily? 🔎 Should We Be Concerned or Curious? Dispatchers — this isn’t about being replaced. It’s about staying informed and ahead of the curve. AI is already being used by brokers for onboarding, check calls, and emails. If tech like Bubba becomes more accurate, it might handle the basics — leaving dispatchers to focus on strategy, carrier relationships, and real market decisions. And let’s be real: most dispatchers charge more than 2% — so if this tool performs well, some cost-conscious O/Os might consider switching. That’s where we must prove our value goes beyond clicking “book.”

@Caitlyn Johnson you are welcome. It honestly was a lot easier than I expected. Even the bank was simple
Wow
Talked to a friend of mine who works for a towing company. Told him what I was looking at doing. Just kind of kicking the idea out there. He in turn that night on his own went and spoke to his boss (they are good friends) and told him about all of this. His boss now wants to talk and set up some hot shot runs. He has several trucks that can run hotshot. He is even willing to wait till I get all my ducks in a row. I was looking for a sign and well I think I just got it. Offered to send me to a couple of his trucking friends if all goes well. I have been kicking this around in my brain for a couple of months and wondering if I should make the jump. Having 4 trucks ready to jump and even more so willing to wait for me to educate myself and get the LLC opened is crazy. I will take that sign and run with it. I am a firm believer that nothing is truly chance and what is meant to be will show itself in time. A simple conversation among friends may have just made the folk in the road choice for me. Time to grind out the work to get this rolling.

Greetings
Hi I'm Charlene! I live in Georgia and I plan on making at min 10K a per month dispatching trucks. I want to get these 3 things from this course/community 1. Knowledge that is key 2. A deeper understanding 3. A good community that I can help support and seek support as well. For fun, I do these 3 things; 1. I game stream GTA RP and do my coding for my own game.. 2. I love to play the handpan. 3. Play with any and everything in the toy aisle with a push button with a special interest in the dinosaurs haha.
