Taking My Own Advice: Day 21 of 21 | Knowing What to Do Isn’t the Same as Doing It
We made it to Day 21. I started this series because there were places in my life where I already had enough insight. What I needed was movement. These 21 days did not leave me with everything figured out. They helped me notice where I was stuck, what I was avoiding, where a plan no longer fit and when I needed to make a different choice. They also reminded me that knowing what to do and being able to do it are not always the same thing. That is true for me, and it is true for many of the people I work with. We can be thoughtful, experienced and deeply aware of what is happening around us while still needing support with our own next steps. I know what I’m doing, and I still have my own work to do. Both are true. For those of us who refuse to look away from genocide, colonialism, racism, attacks on women’s and human rights, animal suffering and environmental destruction, caring cannot be where our work ends. But none of us can respond to everything alone. We need places where we can think honestly, decide what our values ask of us and build the support and structure required to keep moving. That is why I created this community. Some of you are already doing this work and need support to continue. Some know you want to do more but aren’t sure where to begin. Some are trying to figure out what your next step is. You belong here. Day 21 ends this series, but it does not end the practice. So I want to ask you: -Where in your life do you already know what needs to change? -What is making it difficult to move? -What kind of support would help you take your next step?

Congratulations! I love all of this insight and wisdom. I know things need to change in my living environment. Home, city, state, country any one or all. What makes it difficult for me is finances. Support to take next step is accountability.
