@Will Baldwin oh I hear yall have some serious cold weather coming your way this week! We were iced in for a week and my whole house had the sniffles and coughing the whole time🫠🫠. Thankfully we did not lose power.

@Will Baldwin I think it’s cool that you can add multiple locations and receive alerts for that location as well, seems like a useful tool

@Angela Zacharek welcome and so glad to hear you already have most of the items! Are there any military surplus stores near you? If so, you may be able to find a similar body bag there.

@Angela Zacharek I hope they’re great finds and deals.

Community Resiliency: The End Goal
No man (woman) is an island. I’m sure you’ve heard that before. I’m REALLY happy to have found and joined this Skool community. You know why? Because community is what will save us one day when we’re facing an emergency. I imagine most people are looking for a way to prep their own house. Me too. I don’t want to depend on others. That’s not a bad trait to have. I’ve got food and supplies for me and my family. To me, that shows agency. Strength. However, even the best of us miss something. Inevitably. The one thing I forgot to include in my kit. The one thing I needed to fortify my house before the oncoming storm. That’s going to be the thing that jeopardizes my family’s safety. In that moment, the only thing that MIGHT save me and my family from harm… My neighbor. And I pray to God that it is a Good Neighbor! One of my goals this year, besides being more engaged in Skool, is to find community locally. Time banks. CERT groups. Jiu jitsu clubs. Community gardens. Take your pick. Especially when it comes time to recover after a disaster. If all the prep I did fails, I hope my neighbor was prepping too. And the other neighbor. And their neighbor. I’m really happy to be in this community. We need MORE emergency managers. We need MORE preppers. We need MORE homeowners with a sense of agency. We need MORE good neighbors. What are you all doing to build a sense of community in your local social circles?

Such a great and vital point! Notice after a disaster the community rallies together to rebuild, now what if we were to place that same effort in the preparedness phase? I agree with CERT, community centers and churches are where I would also target and city/county emergency management offices can help facilitate these meetings (it’s their responsibility to).

@Will Baldwin absolutely! You can tailor it to inter-generational for families and get the kids involved. Schools think the fire drill /stop, drop and roll training. Senior facilities need a lot of help because of the various statuses of their residents and it usually takes a negative experience (such is life) to expose vulnerabilities. That’s just to name a few.
