Welcome to The Hitmakers Circle!
Welcome to The Hitmakers Circle! I'm so glad you're here. Whether you're writing your very first song or you've been making music for years, you've joined a community of people who share one common goal: writing better songs and growing together as artists, songwriters, and producers. Over the coming weeks and months, I'll be adding new courses, live Q&A sessions, songwriting challenges, production breakdowns, industry insights, and behind-the-scenes looks at my own writing process. My goal is to share the techniques, lessons, successes, and failures I've experienced during more than 30 years in the music industry. This isn't just a place to watch videos. It's a place to ask questions, share your music, receive constructive feedback, collaborate with other members, and continue growing as a songwriter. Let's get to know each other! Please introduce yourself by telling us: - Your name and where you're from - What instruments you play (if any) - Your favourite style of music - How long you've been writing songs - One songwriting goal you'd love to achieve this year - If you could co-write with any artist or songwriter, who would it be? Don't worry if you're just getting started. Every professional songwriter was once a beginner, and everyone here is at a different stage of their journey. I encourage you to jump into the conversations, support one another, and never be afraid to ask questions. Some of the best lessons come from simply being part of the discussion. Thanks for being here. I can't wait to hear your music. Rob

Hi everyone! I'm Cath. I'm originally from North Wales but now live in Ireland following a few years in Spain and then the Cayman Islands. In my younger days, I played classical piano and cello before moving onto the double bass, when the opportunity prsented itself, in various orchestras. I always thought the double bass was an amazing instrument after watching Louis Armstrong's band in the film High Society as a child - I'm still an old movie buff. I played bass guitar in various bands which was great fun - recorded a few bits and pieces but where those recordings are now is anyone's guess. I always dabbled in songwriting and composition but as life got more serious, I put away the music for 12 years or so - work took up soooo much of my time. After testing out various 'more grown up' hobbies (landscape photography was a biggie for a while), I really started to miss music to the point that I decided in May 2024 to join an online community and take songwriting seriously. I attended a songwriting retreat at the Irish Institute of Music & Song (June 2024) - truth be told, that was probably at least 9-12 months too soon for me and I felt very very much out of my depth. Since then, I've written about 50 plus songs of various quality with the online community (How To Write Songs) and have started to put together a catalog that I'm reasonably proud of. I've got various tracks on Soundcloud and Bandcamp - if you're interested, you can reach them through links on my website https://chapalu.online/home - apologies in advance for the AI graphics - I need to swap those out for photos / graphics of my own when I make the time. While the graphics may not be real, the music is written, recorded and produced entirely by humans - initially with the help of TORS and latterly with session musicians at Musiversal. I do play on some of the tracks too but I'm quite an average player - and a poor singer - these days to be honest. I'm gaining more confidence in my writing and I'm here to learn and understand more about production, as well as to gain as much skill as I possibly can in song craft. I'm really not interested in performing and I'm writing with an eye on sync and song placements. It's great to be here!
